it is amazing how some companies ship stuff. I got some kudu horns from South Africa for the Woodbadge training in Scouts. They came wrapped in brown paper with a sheet of cardboard folded around them. The whole bundle was wrapped with wire. All the way from South Africa.
Not one damaged horn amazing.

Was wrapped in one layer of bubble wrap and one layer of cardboard.

You are very lucky it survived. I do not think it is out of line to say who shipped it so others can avoid them.

That's crazy! I know a guy who has a classic genuine old copper/brass Diving Helmet he lent for some purpose. The jerk that shipped it back simply put it in a cardboard box with no padding whatsoever. It had damage, which the stupid 'borrower' had to pay to repair by a specialist. Can't believe the simple-mindeness of people shipping guns that way.

Here is a new to me Sharon Full stock. I have been looking for a Half Stock for awhile, came across this one in full stock and could not resist. View attachment 253368View attachment 253369View attachment 253370View attachment 253371
It was left on my back porch, on the edge of the deck, not under the covered, area in the rain. Was wrapped in one layer of bubble wrap and one layer of cardboard. The hammer was sticking out and top of the cardboard wrap. I am sure glad it had a fragile sticker on it....View attachment 253372

It is in one piece but did have a few bumps and bruises.
This is my first full-stock and after taking it all apart and cleaning and oiling everything, I believe it is going to be a keeper!
great looking rifle!

I am envious! I built my Sharon .50 cal Hawken half stock, back when Sharon was still in business. (early '80's) Yes, it is a heavier gun than most and to this day it remains my "go to" rifle. I have only seen a handful of Sharons at events and Rendezvous'. Your is the first full stock I have ever seen. Great acquisition!

Thank you, TexiKan. Research that I have been able to do the last couple days claims Sharon built a few in house finished rifles. This one seems to be one of those. The quality of the build is top notch. But they sold mostly kits. So without all the back history it is hard to say.

As I recall, Sharon marketed their finished Hawken for around $550 at that time. I had just been swindled by a rifle maker out of Florida who failed to deliver a custom gun. I decided to purchase the Sharon kit, which I believe was around $325. It was nothing like other kits as it needed considerable work. I was a poor teacher at that time and it took me almost a couple of years to finish it. I am pleased with the work spent on it because I have seen a couple of other kits which did not do the extra work needed. I called Sharon a couple of times while building it because I had to replace a lock plate and then the lock. They told me the kit locks were not as good as the ones they use in their finished rifles and they sent me replacement L&R lock parts.

One of our former club members worked at Sharon and it sounded like they had a lot of fun, too.

The lock on mine is L&R , that is good information to know. I have not been able to find a lot of information on Sharon, PLMEEK has a pretty good page on them and some others on the forum have posted bits and pieces. It's the only Fullstock that I own, so I have nothing to compare it too. The auction that I bought it from had it listed as "Antique Heritage Hawken 50 Cal Rifle" I could tell by the pictures that it had the Sharon snail, I could also see that it wasn't a hook breech. There was no mention to a Sharon Barrel even though it was stamped on it. And no picture of the stamp. So I was taking a gamble on bidding on it. Was super excited when it arrived and was actually a Sharon rifle.

You done good depending on $ spent.
I have 4 complete Sharon rifles, all in .54.
Two are full stocks, one flint and the other is percussion. I also have a half stock percussion and an unbuilt Trade Rifle kit, complete and in the original box.
I have a soft spot for Sharon’s, the first rifle I ever built was a Sharon .50 Trade Rifle at the tender age of 13.
Good shooters all.
