Christmas came early!
Love the wood, In my mind exactly what I would like when I order my SMR but I am waiting until my sons WR gets here. Looking forward to progress reports on this one. John. So, I had to open it up...
best of luck with your build !It's a Kibler SMR in .45, standard maple.
Already I've determined that the barrel and lock won't require any inletting. I'll start fitting things up proper today.
Gotta love that packing crate. Gorilla proof.
Have you done a kit before Birddog
Hope you like it. I have the Lyman in 54 that I have upgraded some and its a great gun. Mine wasn’t a kit thoughI will need to wait before I go Kibler! I need to save and hope nothing occurs in between that requires the use of what I saved! I just finished my Gemmer GPR Flinter. and will try it out this week for the first time!
Rock Isle invited me over to see his kit and then I shot his at the range a few weeks later. Ive never done anything like that but Im considering a WoodsrunnerA good thing, since the first thing I noticed were boot prints on the lid!
Well, sorta? I'm taking my time working on a French Dragoon kit, that requires much more work than a Kibler. But, I've got the tools, I've finished stocks, and I'll be taking my time and reading/watching.
I'm thinking about some very basic carving, but it's still intimidating as hell without direct guidance.
I have an orig (20yrs old) Lyman(Investarms) GPR capper in .50. I built, and this latest one is the Gemmer (Investarms)GPR Flinter in .50 . I am no skilled artist, but I am happy with how they came out. It was what i could afford and so far so good. We wil see this next week when I take it to shoot. Lock seems fine?!Hope you like it. Yes, carving has always scared me too!!A good thing, since the first thing I noticed were boot prints on the lid!
