I made a leather capper that holds about 4 caps and is tied to the trigger guard. that can be used as a hammer down safety.

Never been concerned about carrying my rifle with cap on and hammer resting on it, but then I always hunt alone. As for camp protection I keep my Walker handy with five with njpples and one bare to rest the hammer on.
