I just found a TC Hawken in .40 cal for sale and had never seen one or heard of one before. does anyone know about these rifles, like was this from TC or is it a TC that has had changes to it. I have been looking for a seneca but this would be better for me because I have two .40's now. the hawken also stated that this was a cleland match rifle. thanks for any help on this.

Yes, the Cleland Match rifle was made as a special run one year back in the '90s.
.40cal Hawken model, caplock only, 1:48" twist, heavy 1" barrel, micro-click adjustable target sights...never seemed to take off and never became part of TC's regular production inventory.

ROUNDBALL,
Would this be a good rifle for target shooting and if it is like new condition would it be a good buy for $599.00?

I really can't answer that for you with it being a used one...T/C makes good stuff and it SHOULD be a shooter if it hasn't been neglected...and $600 is a pretty fair amount of change.

Another approach could be to pick up a used 1" Hawken...sell off whatever barrel might be on it and put that money towards a new GM 1" x 33" x 1:48" drop-in barrel for the Hawken stock.
( my .40cal is a GM 15/16" barrel but I think their website also lists the .40cal in 1" ).

Probably save $150-$200 and IMO have a better shooter when you're done.
