Another long time Chapman (red box) owner since 1977. Still using that set though a couple bits have been replaced/modified and the variety of bits expanded over the years. My wife has a set (yellow box) for treadle sewing machines. We both think they are an excellent value for the price.

Chapman is a small, family owned and run USA business successfully competing with the big boys, just the type of Mom and Pop store I love to support. Though I too somewhat wonder about their marketing director.

Exactly, except there is no real 'Mom & Pop' anymore.

In the '70s & '80s, I would have to call their # for ordering spare parts. I always dealt with the same woman.....she has been mentioned on the present site as the 'Grand Old Dame' of the co. Well.....what I can tell you is that when one called her, you better have had exactly what you wanted written down and the exact part #. Patience was not one of her virtues.

But that in no way disparages the co itself.....fine products to this day. I can see no failure or quality slide in their newer stuff. Believe me, I'd be the first to call them out if that was the case. Their "marketing director" seems like he would be better suited out flying kites somewhere. But I have had conversation with him by email and he was very accommodating. His videos though.................

I have my Chapman set from around 71 or 72 I have used them on a lot of stuff not only guns. They sit in my gunsmith box but I have gone and got them for other stuff from camper to stuff around in the house. I used to sell tools as a Cornwell tool truck but that little red box just comes in handy.

It sure does. I originally bought the 'red box' for my guns, but these days, they are used for about everything else. Back in the day I kept them strictly for gun use but decided that was ridiculous.
