Shot my Frontier flintlock .50 cal. Shrink my target size to about an 8" from the 10" I have shot last few times. Trying to dial in a little better. No pan flashes today after drilling out the vent hole yesterday with the 1/16 bit. Think I was getting faster ignition. The best shots were where I took everything really slow and held after each shot. The fliers were all me not the rifle.

50 yds off hand
50 gns Schutzen 3fg
.490 ball
.010 patch

Gorgeous day, had the range to myself!

While walking home one afternoon, I spotted a round piece of wood about 4 inches long and maybe ¾" or 7/8" in diameter. The center 2" were undamaged, and I thought it might make a good powder horn stopper. You can see the finished stopper in the photos.

I have the sections all masked off and I'm about ready to do the filing for the rings and facets.

That cell phone takes lousy pictures. These are better.

Not really into powder horns. But I have an original. I bought or found etc. when I was 7 years old. The mechanism powder cut off is missing It’s had a lot of wear and the brass is cracking up. Must be English. Just a working man’s horn I guess no idea of date 1750-1850
Who knows. Value ???no idea

had an infusion to boost my immune system yesterday , rest assured painless felt a bit rough later , a couple of hours and free tea and food. Bloody great , felt like a hangover later haha , but that’s to be expected I dozed through most of it slept a good 12 hours last night feeling very fresh and well this morning. Another 17 June. It’s no big deal so don’t worry if you have to go through immutherapy , don’t worry it works. That’s the important thing

Good one, Gordon!
I try to entertain. Built the pool in 1987 cost £300. Kids were young then so draining it down , it gets filthy with all the trees. Not to mention ducks and a heron …..just gluing some walnut snags and knots back together Been working on sailing club Diesel engine boat all afternoon so a bit smelly. Think I’ll have a hot bath instead of a shower.

Burned little powder today...
Refilling the ol' capper with fresh caps.
Once I get home after shooting, I always fill my horns, primers, cappers and round balls for the next I head out.
"Be Prepared" is what I remember from Boy Scouts.
I got tire of going somewhere only to realize I didn't have the capper full, horns half empty, etc.

This morning I cast up a couple pounds of 570 rb for my anticipated kibler kit I ordered in March. Maybe it will be ready when Jim has his open house in a couple of weeks. I'm only about an hour from there.

Experimented with carving as I'd like to do some simple figures on the Colonial rifle shipping next week.

I suck!

Maybe I'll just keep it simple, a couple lines in the cheek rest with a hacksaw blade and inlet a hunter's star. The curvy relief stuff...fughedaboudit!
