No need for a Forster to make your loading blocks with…. Cut your block with about 3/4-1” extra on each end, drill a starter hole about the size of a screw so you don’t split it, then screw it tight to a piece of scrap wood before you drill your holes. That’ll keep the hole edges clean on the exit side.I cut some patching strips, lubed em and put em in medicine bottles to store. I also made a quick n dirty loading block out of a scrap piece of Poplar laying on the floor of the Man Shed. It turned out alright I guess. Could have been better if I had a Forstner bit (which I do now after a trip to town with the wife this evening). It will work for now until I find a small piece of maple to make another one.
what the heck! hasn't he read the regulations that say they are all in bed by November 15?Rang some steel at the range.

No they come out in the winter once in a while to stretch there legs and then back to bed .Sometimes it’s a change in the weather like a chinook well wake em up .what the heck! hasn't he read the regulations that say they are all in bed by November 15?
somebody is hungry!
try explaining that to our local biologist. many of our back country roads are gated. open from april 15 to November 15. can't have the poor griz forced off the roads we paid for.No they come out in the winter once in a while to stretch there legs and then back to bed .Sometimes it’s a change in the weather like a chinook well wake em up .
want me to send ya a couple Thad? i will toss in a couple wolves. having a disagreement with a big black wolf currently. thinks he wants to hang around until calving. he is a wraith with his color. barely even pick him up with a spot.At this point in life I’m glad I don’t have them in my neck of the woods. Too much to deal with.
Great image, @ArmorerRoy! That quart pot looks like it's done some yards. You make me want to make a few of those tooth breakers for my next field excursion. I wonder if you could push a little dusting of ground salt onto those biscuits before you oven bake them.
If that happens again tell them that if that’s the case they should be walking or riding a bicycle to the range. And by all means, never fire up an outside grill or gas stove.Started the New Year off by shooting the trusty Hawken. The gun shoots so much better than I. Only two other young guys at the range today shooting very high dollar small caliber target unmentionables. Now it usually takes a hit on the head with a hammer to make me realize I'm being offended. But I'm not sure about this. They started in on me about being a contributor to global warming, my gun being worse for the environment than a diesel truck. Not sure if they were kidding or not so I decided not to kill them. Happy New Year!
When is this and where is it going to be?Made hotel reservations for the Lake Cumberland Kentucky Rifle Show in February.
Man, TDM. You sure do some fine work there mister.Made a short starter for my granddaughter’s shooting kit. Built it a bit smaller so it will fit her hand better.
Now that’s a good idea.Instead of one of the sights I said I was considering back on Wednesday (post #11796), I modified a TOTW blank rear sight ( RS-B-1 ) into a 7/64" dia ghost ring peep, and installed it instead:
