Worked on the AMR shotgun with T/C lock a little last night and some again this morning.

Last night cut the T/C lock tox fit the drum. The bench top milling machine is located in the house garage (dads shop). Unfortunately living in Illinois we constantly fight humidity and rust. I will clean it up and move it to my heated shop with dehumidifier in it. Heater and dehumidifier greatly reduce the rust liability issues.

Today, I accomplished getting the lock, barrel and tang all roughed into place. Cut and fit the breech plug the other day, shaped the tang to the stock today using the fire wrench to heat it up.

The lock simply will not set flush so I will bevel the edge to match. Also, will need to add some metal the lock plate to make a filler between the lock, barrel and stock.

I had two members of my Sons of Confederate Veterans camp over at the house Saturday. The father had shot an 1853 Enfield repro back in December, but this was the first time his son, 15, had fired one. After going over safety rules, the son did pretty good. Dad had a Pietta Remington .44 and this was the first time for him to fire a BP handgun. I'll be taking them to a regional N-SSA skirmish later in the month. If they get the fever, they'll be joining my team later this year.

I worked up a load for my colonial longrifle using Schuetzen FFFg, 0.20 pillow ticking patch and Track's mink oil lube with a 0.495 ball. I am happy with the results because fouling was not bad this time. Groups were not too bad considering my eyesight and using iron sights. The painter's tape is 3" wide and I was shooting at 50 yards for the first time.

It was 55F here yesterday. I just had to go burn some powder.
I left the cameras at home so my pet beaver and I could go on a date.

What I did today....

We had an unbelievable unseasonably warm day today for this part of the country. So I dusted off my Renegade and took my 14 year old daughter to shoot it for the first time. She loved it! I had a great time too. Just plinking at jugs and Pepsi bottles filled with water. But we hit a few of them.
