Hello everyone finally made it to the range today with a custom 50 underhammer I bought from a feller on another forum it's short and sweet and likes both roundballs and Lee Real boolits 250gr pushing them with 70gr of FFF GOEX no open sights on it so I mounted a 4-12x40 scope I had laying around got her dialed in at 25 yards took a few shots to get there but that's part of the fun.

I do like your scoped under lever. I have a Swiss martini married to a centre fire .500 muzzle loading 38”octagonal barrel. It’s mighty heavy over 12 lbs. Love to hunt with it long range It’s my .500 muzzle loading .5 BMG BP or nitro. Either powder It does not mind ha ha. I guess yours makes you happy It’s sunny in uk today warm even on patio . Love to scope a flintlock , repro of course , to see what it can really do at 1000 yards. It’s all good fun and it makes us all happy.
love and best wishes from uk

That's a beautiful rifle you have there, I really do bowhunt but for deer and hogs I have take quite a few over the years, I have to use a crossbow since I had to get my left elbow replaced, I now have a TenPoint M1 crossbow shooting a 400gr bolt at 370fps. Thanks on the 50 underhammer I like it and it's well balanced I plan on hunting with it this fall and winter.

I'm trying to build a new shooting bench and get logs for the posts of the 100yard backstop while pushing a stroller with my 15 month old grandson. I watch him during the week days while his parents are at work. I don't get as much done as I like but he's full of helpful advise. I think.

cleaned my two caplocks that i used yesterday. two neighbors came up and we had a smoke fest. burned the entire pound of powder i made monday! this powder was made with red cedar charcoal. lots of power and even more smoke!! what a blast! no pun intended. i and the youngster shot my .54 Ardesa and my .54 investarms with the 22 inch barrel.
we started at 60g and ended at 90g ffg.
my shoulder is blue and the wife is mad at me 🥴
i tend to moan a lot when sleeping!

Waxed my recently purchased Lancaster rifle [with care around the carving] and designed a special mounting for it over the mantle. Pictures when finished with the mount. Polecat

Made it to the range today. Got to shoot my 1858 Remington and had a fair to middling group. 12 shots, no misfires. I'm glad I was able to find two tins of #10 percussion caps. Almost out of them though, I guess I'd better get some SliXshot nipples so I can use #11's.

Unfortunately, put in the conversion cylinder and cracked two chambers. Really screwed it up. I'm beginning to thing it was a bad idea to buy this as a duo-cylinder pistol. Had fun anyway, it'll still shoot black powder and really burned a lot of ammo.

today was a wash out. literally. rained all day.
so i cast some .54 maxies.
cut some felt wads.
washed my shop rags (wife was in town so she couldn't squawk about the black powder residue)
scrubbed the washer drum
unclogged the drain pump on the washer. rags were dirtier than i thought. might have been some grease .
deep cleaned my Ardesa .54 . noticed some rust in the grooves just ahead of the breech
that made me check the others.
deep cleaned the Invest arms .50
deep cleaned the TC .54 flinter
deep cleaned the TC .45 percussion
deep cleaned the just finished .50 flintlock pistol.
gave up for the night. right arm is sore. only 4 more to check and clean/lube.
tomorrow I will dirty some of them again! i hope

My cancer progress Making guns takes my mind of cancer , but after today at Marsden uk I should not have worried as I have been on
immutherapy since February . Last weeks MRI shows 4 small tumours gone. 3 in liver from 20 mm down to 4mm The two big tumours pancreas and liver shrunk from 50 mm to 38 mm all good news I start my second phase today and infusion Monday. So if you have had kidney cancer and it’s spread there is hope i wish you all well

Been messing around with locks flint and percussion , and got some. .516” bore 1/4” wall steel heav tube then last week a slab of walnut arrived today back home from
Marsden I jig sawed the blank into 3 walnut stocks. Actually 2 would have been more sensible But it’s mental progress. Time to get my penknife out and start whittling away.

i first fancy making a Gibbs percussion target rifle , Well I am kind of going that way. I copied the stock off my double .36. ML The walnut slab was £55. Which made three stocks Each barrel tube £37.

The 31”octagonal one is rifled .625 bore percussion The .516 will be one flint for one other percussion. Really looking forward to making target sight
Gray fun. Something to do if nothing else

stay safe. From
Uk great forum
