I don't need any caps.
The lower picture are caps going to a friend when I see him at the NSSA event in October.
He can't find them in the Carolinas.

They were sold out in my town. But the sporting goods manager at my Walmart showed me that they were available in all the surrounding towns. I had my sister-in-law pick me up five tins!
What a pal!! Way to look out for your buds!

made some thimbles and soldiered them onto the under rib that UPS brought me.
tinned the under rib and barrel flat on a Sharon 54. just finished soldiering it together.
waiting for it to get cool, then i will see if it falls apart when i pick it up. if it stuck i will get it ready to brown. or take a nap.

I used a pair of Lineman’s Pliers to cut the pin material with the SMR I put together, then used the same single cut file I used smoothing out the barrel milling marks to file the ends of the pins smooth. Lineman’s Pliers are awesome. They’ll cut screws, nails, wire… pretty much anything you can fit between the cutters.

I've got similar but older, and probably just as tough as they will do the job on anything (but those pins). Thanks for the tip though.

So today I fitted the sights and cut some grooves into the ramrod (groovy, man) and I was hoping to get out to take some photos of the Woodsrunner thus far. However, we actually got rain and then a thunderstorm this morning. It was not until late this afternoon that I was able to get out to the club to take some photos. You asked for them, here are some.

Polishing brass for a CVA Kentucky that I'm working on. It's pretty good brass. Going to take a bunch of meat of the nose cap. Might maybe torch anneal it first.

That method is how I found lots of caps last year.
I simply drive to another town and had my daughter pick some up in neighboring towns too.

Thank you. The inspiration, as opposed to doing traditional carving, was the ancient Indian mound at Newark, Ohio. It is only about 5 feet tall end to end, but something that should be seen if you are ever in the area.

Had company today so not a bunch . When the folks were here I had them all try shooting the Fusil I'm soon sending to Missouri , then when they left cleaned and polished the bore of said Fusil .Took apart the N.W. blanket gun I just bought and fixed a little hickup it had going on , hangin up on half cock at times when fired , and generally checked out the gun . Should be setting the trigger in the current build , a Carolina Gun , but that'll have to be tomorrow . Then went and hoed the garden and stacked some firewood before dark ... Watching Mountain Men on DVD now . I sure wish they had put more seasons of Mountain Men on DVD than just Seasons 1-4 .....darn it !

Finished doing a full cleaning on a rifle I shot Sunday. Went to a weekend rendezvous and took 1st in the trade gun 25 &50 yrd aggregate. Took 2nd in the 25 & 50 yrd flint rifle aggregate, and a 3rd for the woods walk trade gun, a great weekend in my view.

Ha! Doc. What a nice guy. He sorted me out via a very polite PM. The snake is five feet high along its entire length. I confess, I need to pay more attention to the conversation (my wife says that too!). Thanks for straightening me out Doc, and for not getting snaky about it
