One side is finished on a new horn. It’s great to do this in the open air on a beautiful Fall day.

Yesterday I was in Kentucky shooting with the Pa Company of Riflemen against the Kentucky Corps of Longrifles. We shot at Ft Boonesboro. Unfortunately KY won this year, have to let them win every once in a while since they are such great hosts
A family friend is a shooter on the Kentucky Corps of Longrifles. We are planning on doing a camping trip with my parents next year to Ft Boonesboro the same weekend as the shoot. Wanted to this year but my wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant so that probably would have been a bad idea. 😄

Well I took my little 24 gauge with 26” barrel to the range today and I still flinch once in a while but the 2 f was giveing some grief. So after some 25 yard warm up shots I went for 40 yards ,it’s coming me thinks .

Didnt even fall off the roof ! Close once ! :)
That is a sweet looking abode! Yep. You could fall off that roof real easy. Glad to see you didn't!

You can tell that's a muzzle loader's chimney - not much lead flashing around the pipe :D

Cheers, Pete

Got to attend a Territorial Shoot in Saratoga, NY this past weekend, the first one in over 20 years. What a nice group of people shooting and running the event. It was defiantly worth the 4-hour drive to attend. I'm looking forward to returning for their Spring shoot.

Took the Fusil de Chasse out today to do some testing with the new homemade .575 round balls. The gun really should be called ‘Fusil de Plaisir ‘😄.

I used different wadding like jute tow, leaves, scrap paper (over ball only) and patched round balls using precut patches lubed with spit and fixing wax. Not surprisingly, the patched round balls were most accurate. That’s what I will use in this gun. Pictured are the last 5 shots of the day with patched round balls. 30 yards standing, off hand, 65 grains of Scheutzen 2f. Looks like I need more practice. Shucks, guess I’ll have to go back to the range!🤣

Next *year* ???
I shoot at a friends house, but the land around his property is premo deer hunting and lot of it is leased to hunters. So out of respect for the bow hunter and other hunters we don't shoot from Oct. 1st to Jan 1st. The one I just finished will make number 4 that hasn't been sighted in.

Not much , had runnin ta do and company . They brought homemade pizza ,!! Make a trigger. .. pin it in stock ... Fit to lock ...measure length of pull , mark it ...cut stock tomorrow then start making buttplate ...

Did my first toe plate on the SMR, it's not perfect but serviceable. Gave it a final light rub with scotchbrite, whiskered, and first coat of thinned T&T varnish oil is on it. Hoping to God my wife's super nose doesn't pick up on the turpentine smell... It's locked up in the basement bathroom with the dehumidifier and exhaust fan running so fingers crossed.
