I do not. He has a lathe that we did it on. I think that's about the only way I know of to get the hole drilled perfectly straight.

on the wood I had to take off a ton of wood! I sanded to 220 then I stained the walnut with fiebing's leather dye in medium brown, it turned the stock an ugly orange, then I put varathane dark walnut stain on top. then 6 coats of chambers original oil,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I "bought" nothing but after an unplanned 7 year hiatus from Muzzle loading , I went digging in my gun room for my little Traditions Crockett 32 rifle to maybe get it out to the range this week. Turns out it was a bigger task than I expected but I finally found the gun in a dark corner of one of my less accessible safes. It was a good acquisition day though as during the hunt, I found a very clean 45 cal Pedersoli Kentucky rifle cased up in a dusty corner of the room. Funny thing is I have ZERO recollection of where or when I obtained it! No pics of the Kentucky rifle today but here is one of the Crockett (kit gun) which was the last muzzle loading purchase from back when I retired in 2017.

That's neat. The land where we have our range was just sold so until we can find something else I will have to go to a local public range. I looked at the web site and they say you have to bring your own target stands. Must be wood or plastic and not metal. That gives me some ideas.

If you are gonna haul it much you may want to make the frame out of 2X4s rather than 4X4s so it won't be so heavy. The board is 3/4 pressure treated plywood. It could be 1/2 inch. Wheels could be cut out of a 2X10.

back in the day before I had my full machine shop what I did was made a jig to slide over the end of the ram rod to guide the drill bit you have to make one for each size of ramrod

I think I'm on to your problem so I'll take a shot at it. If this doesn't address the problem, I apologize.

The two problems i encountered across the forums that I participate in have been images too large for the forum software and photos posting sideways or upside down. This forum supports posting large photos as thumbnails but i make it a point to resize them for an easier to view display. I use an app that allows rotating, cropping and resizing photos.

this is the app. It's free but I broke down and paid about $5 a year to eliminate ads.

That screenshot had to be resized. It took less than a minute.

I've done that to drill holes in the end of dowels. Maybe I could do it for metal range rods. Thanks for the tip. Don't know why I didn't think of that.

I found whiskey bottle pour spout that fits schutzen power bottles it allows you to pour and it recaps itself

Went on a recon mission. From what I understand the land where our club has our range is being sold tomorrow, so the 15th was our last shoot there after over 30 years for me and no telling how long the club had that range. Today I went by the public range near the national forest and talked to a couple rangers. They have no permanent target frames but they do have individual target frames to provide to individual shooters. So I won't have to build or purchase one, just bring my targets. The rifle side is 100 yards but they also have it marked off at 25 and 50 yards. The pistol side is 25 yards only, so can't practice at 50 yards there. Overall really good news. When I told them about our club loosing our range one ranger mentioned not knowing how many members we have but we could get there early so we could set up together. We would have to change from Sunday shoots to sometime between Tuesday to Saturday, but that's a way to keep the club going until we find some more property to rent. We're a charter club in Muzzle Blasts and have been around since 1965, so I don't want to see our club cease to exist. Over the years I had a lot of good friends in the club, a number who are no longer around, so I kinda personally fell like I owe it to them to do what I can to keep the club going.

Water cleaned my flint deer rifle and lubed the lock. Bagged up some wads , a bore brush , and r/r tips for my hunting buddy to go to the range to try out a new 16 Ga. French Indian musket he wants to use in Spring turkey season. I scratch built this gun three yrs. ago , and just never took it out to try at the range. Still have to cast some 16 Ga. round balls for it.

Rifle is for Christmas for my granddaughter. So, with this I have armed two.son.in laws, one ex son in law, and six grandchildren. Now I have a granddaughter in law with a grandsons marriage (another lefty!). Plus there will be a great grandson in March! I gotta draw a line cause I can't keep up.

Finally got around to load development of my jukar flintlock. I've had it for several years but really started shooting a lot the last year or so. I've been using 50 grains and just plinking targets. It's not bad at 50 grains but really likes 70.

I also filmed myself for the first time to see how fast my lock was. From the video, it seems on par with other people's rifles ive seen videos of. When shooting though, it seems like an eternity when you pull the trigger till the rifle fires. I guess it's the nature of the beast with a flintlock.
