Try a white circle,,, the black sights show up much better!!!!
Never use red or orange!!!!!! get use to never shooting at those colors,,,they are to close to the colors required for hunters to wear in some states.
I cut my targets, full size/real life, out of big cardboard I get from an appliance store. This time of year,,check at work for those 2012 desk calenders, they throw them out,,,great for targets and drafting projects.

Nothing exciting here. I have some NMLRA targets, some novelty targets I picked up somewhere and some modern rifle grid things from Walmart. I also occasionally print some from the internet. With my shooting, I can get a lot of milage from one target.

My favorite target is paper plates. I like setting them at various distances and shoot at them. I even put them at different places and get into my deer stands. Shooting down is sometimes more challenging that just straight on.
In short practice what you intend to do. If you are going to be a target shooter shoot printed targets. But if you are a hunter better practice hunting conditions.

One of the tougher NMLRA targets to score well on is this crow (or pigeon?).

If you don't concentrate, your mind will try to put the shot in the center of the bird rather than in the offset bullseye.

Oh. The two smaller holes were shot by the guy standing next to me on the line. He was shooting his AK at his target and his poor marksmanship was showing. The little holes that look like a shotgun was fired at the target was also his doing. Many of his shots were hitting the dirt in front of the targets.

And that is a grafic illistration of the difference between "Aim and Shoot" & "Spray and Pray" :hatsoff:

At the range same as everybody else, at home though, that is where the fun is :rotf:

i tend to save my targets to reflect on later. other people shooting my target would really piss me off!

Here are the targets I use when shooting my Brown Bess. I just use regular targets the rest of the time and sometimes with Shoot N' See stickers on them for longer range. As you can see, I am certainly no artist. No more than 15 minutes time and a few cans of spray paint needed. The guys at the range get a real kick out of watching me present at the King's men. The Crown fared... poorly... that day...

FWITW (For whatever it's worth)...

I shoot targets at the public range that help me make decisions regarding my consistency regarding the variables in my various shooting scenarios. (Ball Type, Powder type, #of Grains etc.) Because I am 50+ years old... i.e. I am blind as a fu**ing bat.. I need help determining where I am shooting from the sight picture that my preferred weapon system provides. I have found the BC Shoot & See targets are an "invaluable" help!

Thanks Birchwood / Casey....

I use pictures of famous monsters; Godzilla, Rodan, Jaws, and then infamous monsters of history; Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Atilla, Vlad, Nero, Xerxes.

We just finished another time where free target stands appear in peoples lawns. After the election I scored about 12 signs. Some were the type with the loose plastic sleeves that slid over the wire and some had a tough weather resistant cardboard. I threw away the plastic sleeves and saved the wire to make more stands later. The cardboard ones I spray painted black on both sides so as not offend anyone. I stapled two paper plates to the signs and then stuck a 5.5" self adhesive target to the paper plates.

The ranges that I have been to always seems to have shot up target stands that won't hold a cardboard backer for a target. I can simply march out and stick my stands in the ground and not worry about the targets blowing away.

I never get to a range I just use my back yard, if you got thr room a tennis ball makes a great target. After you hit the ball once the next shot you have to hit it where it lands , more fun with more than one shooter.
