I personally know in person at least a half dozen, if not a dozen or more members here and that's both from different ML interests/disciplines and some originally from the unmentionable shooting community. I probably know even more from the North South Skirmish Association by facial recognition, as I knew a huge number of folks in that discipline.

Of course because of having been in the Marine Corps for a career and having been stationed all over the country, it has given me an opportunity to meet many folks in different ML activities.

Yet I don't think we should discount the folks we meet and interact with often here, because we may not be able or inclined to travel more and meet more people in person. This forum gives us a chance to interact with some others even more than we may be able to do with some folks in person.

A most humble positive response to that,
Thank you, for sharing with us all these years.

Living in Eastern England means that the chances of meeting up with anybody else from this forum are slim indeed.

However, pre-covid, we used to spend a portion of our year in Oregon, and met up with some wondrous people there, at least one of whom occasionally posts here. He has recently moved to another state, but we talk a couple of times a week.

As a regular visitor to The Gun works in Springfield OR - for many years now - I got to know Joe and Suzi as a customer. They were close friends, too, with OUR local friends near Eugene - and so it goes round. Both ladies have recently lost their 'Joes' - both husbands bore that name, and I miss them like he**.

I've met with a number of shooters over on Northwestfirearms.com, and have even been shooting with a few of them, and value them, and the aforementioned person, above rubies and pearls.

I know a couple members from here. One is my best friend and long time hunting partner. I’m always up for meeting, I’m taking a brand new never fired flintlock to the range this Sunday. I can’t wait!

I've met three forum members and considering that I've been going to rendezvous for 40 years most likely have some others that I'm not even aware of.

Please understand, I am in no way suggesting we, "discount the folks we meet and interact with often here."
Actually, my thoughts that lead to my asking were quite the opposite.
I will expound on those thoughts after more responses come in. Wondering if someone else might touch on them.

I see some regional trends. When I lived in another State there were a few public ranges and public hunting and camping. The surrounding area was pretty congested. In that place people seemed more willing to meet up at the public places to share a day of activity. In another State, it was less so. In Texas, there are hardly any public hunting spots, mostly private ranges and people can be quite spread out. I've not gotten together with anyone, even though I can name 2 forum members within 15 minutes of me. Not opposed to getting together.... just doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in this area....

The only member I see with any regularity is Grenadier1758 and that's mostly at rendezvous.
I'm thinking I might host a shoot next year on my property and see how many members might show up.
I've already built a range and there's plenty of room to set up tents even for a weekend thing. There's a total of 76 acres, 50 wooded the rest open ground. Depending on the time of year a few at a time could go hunting.

I would be willing to bet that banjoman and I have crossed paths and didn’t know it. But to answer the question, I have not met anyone on this forum that I know of.

New to this forum, been in BP since the 80s. Live in far northern Ca. Go to a lot of Rhondys. Started a Pee Wee long gong in 1991, now my wife and I have one in 6 different Rhondys. We also have an oscillating clay auto thrower that we use at a few BP events. Articulate in other BP pages. Not sure if we know a anyone on this page, but we are close friends with many in BP

Doc,

I also tend to be reclusive. I tend towards some social anxiety issues, sometimes severe. So, I am picky whom I spend time with.
There are several other members within 30 minutes to a couple hours of me. But, I've only met the 2. Someday, hopefully, I'll make it to one of the woodswalks at Groton and meet a couple more. Then, see where my anxiety level is at for such an event.
I have been considering taking the trip down, bit of a drive from up this way, but going with someone else might make the trip a little easie.

Just a question I have been pondering lately, purely out of curiosity, born of some of the replies to topics in the, "Beyond the Great Divide," section.

Who here knows someone else or multiple other members, in person? Or at least as met another member or members in person?
Not asking anyone to name names. Just curious as to how many of us have actually met eachother.

I have met 2 other members in person, one is fairly active here still, the other's activity here is sporadic and often is just reading. The second one and I talk fairly regularly and have gotten together a few times. But that is all for face to face knowledge of another member.
I do talk several times a week with two former members and consider them both good friends. Hopefully someday we can hunt and scout together.
I talk occasionally with a couple others whom I also hope to meet with and at least share a drink soon.

It seems that on the ALR forum there is a small group of members that know eachother at least on some small basis.
What about here?
i have not met anyone in person but i suspect i know who a couple of members are because of conversations and the apparent close proximity to me

Same here in Texas, we have active members on the forum, but down here, formal shoots are not very popular for some reason...the cowboys seem to be having all the fun...!

There are shoots in Brady, (March, June and Oct), Lake Jackson, Electra, Dallas and San Antonio.

If they have those events this year, you would be welcome to meet me at my place, which would be on your way anyway, and I would drive from here.
I am reliant on @Grimord for info on these. I am really not interested in their line shoots, just the woodswalks. I wish they would have them when it is a little warmer, but they only have them in winter it seems.

There are several members on here that apparently live close to me but I haven’t met any of them in person that I know of. Some live close enough that we probably shop at the same sporting goods store.
Join the Tennessee Muzzleloaders Facebook group and you'll find lots of muzzleloader shooters in Tennessee and the surrounding 9 states. Send a request with your name, city, state...and a zipcode is always nice to have. I publish the contact list every Sunday night or Monday morning on the group's page.
