I use PVC pipe with a screw end cap that is fixed and glued so it doesn't leak. I just pour in boiling water with some soap and clean the barrel. Now if you are looking for something that you can put a gun barrel into and heat up over a stove or fire and get it really hot, I would check out some local plumbers, or even a plumbing supply place. They may have some of that old threaded iron water pipe that they used in basements of older houses that are now replaced with copper or PVC. Also, scrap metal yards as those pipes and the like have to be recycled somewhere, or maybe a section of a large exhaust pipe from a truck or tractor trailer.?? Talk to industrial plant maintenance people or Pipe Fitters. Good luck.
