    Need info on shooting round ball 16 Guage smooth

    I'm using 65gr. powder and a .640 ball from a dixie mould with pillow ticking mink oil for lube. My gun is a North star west musket it shoots that load well about 4" at 50 yards.

    I was looking at a french musket from loyalist this week and noticed that it has an unbridled frizzen. I have heard bad things about that type of frizzen. Anybody have any experience with those?

    I just got mine from middlesex and it shoots good not great. It eats flints but besides that the metal is great on it and the fit is very good. I will be using it on my weekly rabbit hunts

    I've had two over the years and they both performed well. Only problem is getting in contact with them. My gun had all the screws stripped and I couldn't ever contact the owner again (didn't answer his phone) I later sold the gun.

    I'm on my second early english trade gun. They are great I hunt regulary with mine and no soft frizzens. Matt the owner is a great guy you need not worry about these guns.
