Hey all! Just currious on the technique and sharpening tools that you guys use to sharpen your patch knives? If your like me you'all like to increase the skills in everything we do. I used to use a arkansas stone one course and another fine. I could cut my patches but never anything I would...

    The Largest Caliber Muzzleloader?

One of my shoting buddys has a .75 cal percussion, and a .80 cal flinter. The .80 cal isn't bad to shoot, but the .75 cal percussion kicks like a mule. Both guns are very accurate though. He brings it to a few shoots but some people complain he has an unfair advantage. Then he lets them shoot...

    I have another screw loose...

Oh don't get me wrong... I'm sure they work great.. Just would hate to have someone get in a hurry loading a second shot and forget the rod in the muzzle while out chasing the great bambi. Not that it's happend to me.. But I know my mind is a buzzing when the chase is on.. :o I'm sure...

    I have another screw loose...

I agree with Rebel to replace range rods with brass or steel rods and a bore saver for good measure. I also would recomend putting a good sized wooden ball or door knob on the end. This will help in loading and the ability to spot it easier if still in the muzzle. I have seen a couple of rods...

    Older PA Hunter Accuracy Update.

Just read your old post and thought I'd add my two cents. Looks as if your group is coming arround. However: I might look at a lighter load or heavier patch possibly, it appears your patches are beggining to fray and i wonder if your loosing something there. :imo: I shoot goex fffg 70 grain...

Questions about Civil War reproduction rifles

Hey mk434... Glad to hear others finding muskets interesting. I just purchased my first one 4 months back now and it shoots a house of fire! Mine is a 1863 2 band zouave, manufactured by Euro arms, and love how it shoots! I've found that the trigger pulls do vary from gun to gun. I had...

    Casting Balls Pays

I agree... bigger the ball the bigggger the savings.. I recently started shooting a 58 cal Zouave, and the balls are fairly spendy at $7 to $8 for a box of 50. Yikes Was glad to find a nice lymann mold to start casting my own! Big savings $$$ Not to mention relaxing & satisfying.

    New traditions trapper pistol.

Glad to hear you got it fixxed. Just purchased a used one from a buddy of mine. After some fine adjustment of sights it seems to shoot very well for a novice pisol shooter as myself. Placed third in my second shooting match with it. Just hope I never need to consult thier service customer...

    Dedicated shooting bag/box

I have a box for each percussion / flint / and pistol. Seems as if I have to many specialized pieces for each type to fit in one. Also my boxxes are also great loading stands to lean my rifle up to when loading. Having a speacial possibles bag does sound attractive though. I may look into...
