    Did I break my revolver?

A lot of filing done now, I was so worried I was going to mess up the threads on this thing but in the end it all worked out. Thank you all for leading me through this I can not wait to get this back to the range. Filed a good bit off. Might do some touch up here, but the gap is gone the...

    Did I break my revolver?

By back to you mean where it threads? If so I would need to file the end of the threads and then do some work at the base of the threads because it is touching after one more 1/4 turn as far as it will go. If I file anymore from the tip of the arbor where it meets the barrel it will be too...

    Did I break my revolver?

As you can see there is a gap and the wedge is completely through. If I were to file anymore it would not do me any good. I am not 100% sure but from my understanding this is a steel frame, a magnet sticks to it. There is Brass strapping on the the trigger guard and backstrap. I do...

    Did I break my revolver?

I am confused... I just got a brand new arbor and filed the end down so that the two pins on the base are flush with the barrel holes and it is, the wedge fits, my new problem is there is to much play in my cylinder, everything works fine there is just a 1/8 gap between my cylinder and the...

    Did I break my revolver?

actually after playing a little I DO NOT like the 1/8 play in the cylinder it is impossible to get a good safety on this now I can put the notch in right and it just rotates out.

    Did I break my revolver?

I did this and filed it down till it hit the pins first without hitting the frame and it is close to flush and the wedge goes through. My problems I noticed is my cylinder moves slightly forward and back about 1/8 inch, is this an issue? No filing will help this and the wedge is already all...

    Did I break my revolver?

Thanks for that advice, I figured a good file would be the way, I have gotten pretty decent at filing, I impression locks as a hobby and it takes a keen eye and patience to do that right.

    Did I break my revolver?

So I got the Arbor today and first put the cylinder on it moved smoothly with no problems what so ever. Threaded into the receiver and put the front on to gauge what it going on, it looks like I need to file some from the Tip of the Arbor as it is about 1/8-1/4 inch longer than the old one and...

    Did I break my revolver?

I got it out and it is standard threaded righty tighty lefty loosy. Also found out that if you pull the hammer back it's easier to screw it in and comes out the back end by the hammer then to try and bring it back out. Used a drill and it bit into it and threaded it out the back end easily...

    Did I break my revolver?

Only one's I see on there are .44, are they same diameter as the .36? And the arbor is only $14 brand new. I'm pretty sure I've got a steel frame.

    Did I break my revolver?

Well the pin came out nicely I was able to push it from the broke side. Turning the Arbor is a problem I put the post back on it and can turn it a 1/4 turn each direction, anyone have a clue if this is normal or bastard threaded? I would think normal.

    Did I break my revolver?

We have options yay! Now I have to find out how to remove that pin. Google time. If I find what I need I"ll put post it on here for others to learn.

    Did I break my revolver?

I had no intention of breaking it and I do care, it's still $100. But the fact is it happened and there is nothing I can do about it. If I do get another 1851 it will be .36. I've got a Ruger so I've got a 44/45. I like shooting the 1851. I know I probably shouldn't have used the hammer...

    Did I break my revolver?

When I bought it I had no idea on what calibers they came in. I checked it on my phone and cabella's was selling it new for $250 so I figured $100 was good deal to get into it. I did learn though that an original 1851 navy was .36 cal so I thought that was cool. I've got a mold for .36 balls...

    Did I break my revolver?

So I popped the post out the opposite way now that it's broken off and after some playing around trying to put it back on. Somewhere in the middle of the cylinder there is either a bur or some expansion meeting up with the expansion of the post. The post will not go back into the barrel either...

    Did I break my revolver?

RIP... Well I soaked it over night then I took a brush and hit it real good and used a cleaning head and did the best I could got everything I could clean on it. The cylinder spun just find on the post and it acted like it was going to slide off. Then got stuck and would not move at all. I...

    Did I break my revolver?

I appreciate the feedback and I am seeing some areas I need to work on. I used water and dish soap and a scrubber to clean the pistol, the same way I did when I bought it. I will agree that cleaning with oil may help. I've got it soaking now. The issue I am having with communication is this...

    Did I break my revolver?

Oh yeah no gunsmithing for me. I read something similar to this and apparently I did not explain the problem correctly. The wedge is completely out and the barrel will not go back on. The cylinder is freely moving like it is about to come off then jams up where the wedge would go. Just...
