    Rebarrel of CVA Mountain??

you might try Lee REAL Bullets they come in I think 250 and 320 grains. the 320 would be almost twice the weight of roundball. I have used the 250gr and they shoot pretty good out of my mtn rifle. They are pretty short.

Question about perc to flint conversion

I did it to a CVA Mountain Rifle last year. I built it in the mid 70's. I bought a L&R rpl lock and vent liner. I cut the drum off at the barrel, drilled and tapped it to fit the vent liner and was done. Shoots fine. Total cost was under $200.

    Itx shot

I've been using it for years (ITX10). Works well for my ducks. I do use a heavy shot cup. I seldom have to make a second shot.

    Effectiveness of 20 Gauge Doubles

I would agree with laffindog. I've used a 20 for probably 10 yrs. I've taken everything from dove, pheasant, duck and turkey. Never a problem. I used lead where I can and ITX with a plastic wad for duck. Barrels are chrome lined on mine ( I emailed Pedersoli and asked.)

original ITX non toxi? or non toxi sub?

I have a newer (chrome lined) pedersoli 20ga double that I use ITX in. I do use plastic wads just to be safe. When I contacted the company they said to use them with steel. I like ITX much better than steel. If I do my part it's a one shot deal. I hated steel even in my modern guns. I do...

Doves Sept. 1st.....who's taking the ML challenge?

:cursing: I won't get to go until Wednesday next week ( out of town ) but I'll have my pedersoli 20ga double out then. We hunt a friend's "sod" farm. :rotf: It's great, like sitting on a golf course. The hotter and dryer it is- the better! It's divided into smaller areas that have ditches...

Who's doing "Blackpowder Doves" this fall??

I don't know about other states but Illinois just published this years rule book and placed a copy on the web. They have three sites ( Silver Springs State Park , Des Plaines Conservation Area and Kankakee River State Park) that they have listed as "NON-TOXIC SHOT ONLY" for Dove this year so be...

    Nipple gets stuck!

I've always put just a little of what ever patch lube I have on the threads when I'm cleaning and the the next time I shoot it still comes out with no trouble ( just enough to coat the threads.) I screw it in then back out and wipe any excess off then put it back in and tighten. :blue:

Anyone do a wilderness MZ hunt?

roundball, I spent almost a year in Saratoga Springs back in the 70's. It is a beautiful area. I didn't get to hunt any, but I spent a lot of time fishing the "kayaderosseras" and Saratoga Lake. :agree:

    English or irish spouts

I'd have to agree. I have an irish and it works great. My double is a 20ga. so I stuffed an overpowder wad in the base to reduce the volume. :agree:

    Clueless Illinois resident

I thought maybe they could dig a moat around it and call it the "State of insanity" , maybe float it off into lake michigan and use it for target practice:youcrazy:

    Clueless Illinois resident

I emailed MidSouth after I posted the other day and just got their answer. Their reason is that they aren't able to " decide and keep up with all the local laws. Also as we read in the laws that all gun transfer must be done by a dealer who can verify the FOID holder and sell it using a 4473...

    Whale Oil

Dixie list some "Synthetic Sperm Whale Oil" $3.00 for an 8oz. bottle. Add says "Non petroleum." I got a bottle Of stuff (that says the same thing) from a vendor at Kalamazoo last year. I haven't used any yet but it did still pour after a couple of days in the freezer. :results:
