    TC Firestorm

Fun to shoot, and great for smashing around the brush, slogging it out in bad weather, etc. Its the kind of gun that you won't be afraid to rough house with. Best thing about it is the looks you get from the "nose in the air" group. They won't treat their $X,XXX guns the way you can this...

    Unbelievable...atricle in Outdoor Life

As with most mainstream magazines, I gave up on them as you never heard a "bad" thing about a product, or the fact that almost everything was written as an advertisement. A few good ones still exist, but the rest of them are just story books. The only reason they are around is in case you run...

    CVA .58 Mountain Rifle Questions

Agree, but I would have to add a sledgehammer and use a piece of rebar to my gear :haha: But hey, only have to load it once at the cabin, and it takes only one (good) shot.... have to give it a go!

hand cast .562 vs. mass made .570

TOW says centered on patch, sprue up. Is that what you are describing in your post? Or sprue "down" toward the powder? :hmm: BobW

I started off with an I-L&*%, and after finding this forum: And the I-L&*% hasn't seen the light of day in three years! Too fun. BobW

And here what she does: first three shots I took with the gun. Bulls are offhand at 50 yards, third is offhand at 100 yards. 90 gr ffg w/ .015 ox-yoke prelubed patch. SHE IS A HAMMER! Adirondaks, here I come Saturday!!!

hand cast .562 vs. mass made .570

I have a .58 perc. that, according to literature was recommended to shoot .562 w/ .020 patch. The only .562 balls I have found are hand cast through TOW. They state they have a projection on the ball and to load this against your short starter. Will this be an accuracy issue in comparison to...

    CVA .58 Mountain Rifle Questions

I should try and post my pics. Man does it shoot well. Question: What ball /patch combo? CVA manual (link somewhere on this forum) says .562 ball & .020 patch. .562 is just not easily available (just ordered some from TOW - hand cast)I tried .570 Horandy and .015 cotton and .570 Horandy...

    CVA .58 Mountain Rifle Questions

Rebel: Yep, that is the one, get this, it has a Birdseye Maple Stock too!!! Thanks on the barrel info. Snuffy: No, I wasn't that lucky. But only a small amount of money shanged hands (quite a deal)! Shautheman: Will put up some pics later. Mike2005: Yep, had that problem at the range.

    CVA .58 Mountain Rifle Questions

I just got one thumper of a gun from a friend. Took it to the range and the first two rounds offhand at 50 yards were within 2" of dead center. Only about 4" off at 100 yards. I LOVE THIS GUN! Questions: (1) Anybody know the rate of twist on the CVA .58? (2) Any info on the barrel (spanish)...

Why do we love Flintlocks so much?

The time I have to hunt is less and less as time goes by (society, family, friends, etc.). It is all important stuff. With all that, the limited time should be quality. Since my success isn't measured by the freezer, but the journey each time, the fun of a flint (or even perc.) following "the...

    I want your dead soldiers...

Glad to see I'm not the only one who has one. My hunting buddy has nicknamed it "Frank" (as in Frankenstein) - but I don't mind. It was a step in the better direction from the I-#_(* that I got as a first BP gun...(pardon me for even saying that)! Funny though, since then, I now have a flint...

    Schuetzen vs Grafs

last few times I looked, they had supply issues. I ended up getting the Grafs.... Being here in western NY, it is hopeless to do anything but mail order.

    FFF - 3.5F - FFFF : Boom?

and as the horn is bounced around while walking/stumbling in the woods, or as powder is bounced in a powder flask, the granulation becomes finer.... (ffg becomes fffg) Why are we trying to bring the 1800's into 2000+? Aren't we doing this to be back to "simpler times"? Did it matter to those...

    Replacement Barrel Question (GPR)

I'm trying to eliminate mystery of just spraying PRB's. No consistency. Probably more me than the barrel, but I wanted to explore a slower twist. Rumors say too much twist just isn't friendly to a PRB, and I like shooting them. They are cheap and simple.

    Replacement Barrel Question (GPR)

I gave up on a 1 in 32" fast twist barrel (for now) and got a replacement 1 in 60" (factory) for my flintlock GPH now a GPR - same caliber. Question: The new barrel came with a new tang - is it necessary to switch this out? Thoughts please.

New Guys: Tom Fuller Black English Flints are a must!

I am not aware that he is selling direct. I was merely being discrete and not endorsing any distributor that he may be using (didn't think is was proper to mention names) :winking: .
