    Jacob Kuntz Style Rifle

A while back I commissioned a young gunmaker named Eric Von Aschwege to build me a rifle in the style of Jacob Kuntz. The result is below. Also if you click on the link you will see a lot more detail and some back story. For me this is a once in a lifetime rifle. On Sunday March 8 I will be 64...

    My new smoothbore pistol

I acquired this pistol about 2 weeks ago from TOW. It is a .60 smoothbore marked M.A. Taylor, Sheffield on the top of the barrel. This is my first muzzle loading handgun and my first smoothbore. I had a Lee .60 ball mold so I cast a bunch in anticipation, but they were too big. I bought a...

    First Time Shooting A Flintlock

I received my new flintlock about 2 weeks ago, but was too busy to make it to the range. Yesterday I made it and all I can say is WOW! Really fun. The rifle is a copy of a JJ Henry Scrollguard made by Steve Losey. Has a 44" Rice barrel in .54. I posted some photos in the photo section, but if...

    Powder horn safety: Watch out!

Rooster, Thank you for this post. I am fairly new to muzzleloaders and no one else at my club shoots a traditional muzzleloader. so no guidance. I am pleased to say that I instinctively developed the habit of keeping my loading materials behind the bench/firing line, but I never thought much...

    JJ Henry Scrollguard

This just arrived last night. A replica of a JJ Henry Scrollguard made by Steve Losey of Rice Lake, WI. It has a 44" Rice barrel in .54. Steve was a delight to deal with. Good clear communication, very timely and a great rifle at a reasonable price. Can't wait to get it to the range.

Once you get started I hope you can post some updates. I would follow this with interest. I am a step or two behind you and have been reading the same books and watching the same videos as you while I save up the money for the kit and tools. Man, this stuff is addictive.

    New Cap and Ball Revolver

I think the 1860 is the most classically beautiful revolver ever made. I just picked one up a week or so ago. Also a Uberti.
