    53 Enfield accuracy

I haven't really worried about weight of the Minie yet. I'm lubing with SPG using the spring loaded luber from Northwest Trading Company (I think they call it a center luber or something like that). It doesn't fill the cavity, however it does give the wall of the cavity a good coating...

    53 Enfield accuracy

Have you slugged the bore to find out what size Minie you should be shooting? Most people try to be within a couple thousands of the bore size. Not all .58 cal are created equal. My gun likes a Minie sized to .575, but others shoot better with a Minie sized to .577. I don't think its the...

    Can't find a BP Gun?

I just don't see powder and caps as a great expense? Supplies may be more than you old timers remember, but compared to other hobbies shooting is inexpensive once you get the gun. I could shoot for years on what it cost to join a golf course around here. Stop by the N-SSA in VA during one of...

    Long Rifle Gun Case

That's what we do now. I was hoping to find a hard case as the guns have to ride in the back of the pickup on the way up to Nationals. Mike

    Long Rifle Gun Case

Guys: Does anyone make a large gun case that will fit a 56 inch long rifle? I've had no luck locally or surfing the web. Figured you guys have been through this before. Mike

    1861 Springfield sights

If you own a ArmiSport it requires a sight wrench specifically made for it (must be metric). The standard wrench from S&S will not fit. I got mine from Taylor's and Co. Alas I now have a spare wrench from S&S.

    Questions about cleaning?

Yes, the residue was brown. I figured it might be rust. I'll try the oiled patches. The WD40 was just to make sure the water was out of the barrel. I ran a patch soaked in gun oil, followed by a patch covered in boar butter before I put the gun up. Mike

    Questions about cleaning?

A couple of questions after my first shooting session (ArmiSport 1861 Springfield). I cleaned my rifle with soap and water after the shooting session, without taking the barrel off the rifle. I knew there was some junk around the lock and tang so as soon as I got a chance I took the barrel off...
