    Aftermarket Sights for T/C

I got the T/C rear peep from Cabela's and installed it on the tang myself. It's fairly eaisy. It seems accurate and I like peeps anyway.

    When Hunting.........

I've used the T/C 4-n-1 quickshot and they work well. I'm going to "upgrade" to a nice possibles bag and such.

    T/C 54 Cal Hawken

I've found that 60 grains Goex FFG in my .54 T/C Hawken gives best accuracy. That's shooting .15 patch lubed with bore butter and a Hornady .530 ball and remington or CCI #11 caps. Accuracy seems to fall off at around 90 grains. I wouldn't hunt with this load, but it's nice and light recoil.

    TC peepsight

I installed the T/C tang peep on my .54 T/C. It works great! I love it. I've been shooting "peep" since my army days and am the most comfortable with them, and I shoot it more accurately too. It's not hard to install yourself, but you better use a drill press.

    Traditional vs. modern ratio

I bought an inline. I like all types of weapons and an inline is a type. I prefer traditional overall and shoot them much more. I own 3 traditional and 1 inline. In my mind, the inline is a hunting tool that I don't mind putting a scope on. So why not just use a cartridge rifle with a...

.58 or .62 for big stuff?

I'm looking to build one sometime. I have a the smaller stuff covered up to .54. I want a big bore and will eventually hunt something big. How big of a animal does the conventional wisdom say a .58 can take with a PRB? A .62? Is a .62 too brutal to shoot? Questions from a novice, so I ask...

Nothing Better Than a Hot Steamy Gutpile

I came up empty with the muzzleloader but got one with a bow. My first ever. I had to buy a freezer, but wanted one anyway. This was a good excuse. I can't wait until next year! Thanks for you pics. I forgot my camera.

    best locktime percussion locks?

Redfeather, What are the standard designs of the bolster and breach? Of what type is the T/C rifle? Thanks

    best locktime percussion locks?

I noticed that many of the flat-spring locks have a shorter distance to travel than the coil spring lock on my T/C rifle. Does the hammer travel as fast with the flat springs? Which has the best lock time in general - flat or coil? Are there any particular locks that are standouts for...

    Perceptions on quality of rifles

I don't believe in the concept of not doing something until you can afford the best. If something is safe and functional and will stand up to the use you intend, buy it, use it, enjoy it and learn. If it's still in one piece, sell or trade it for something that suits your needs more or is just...

    Another useless nut

Snake-eyes, I'm from Lancaster. My job moved me here about 3 years ago from SW Ohio. I'm an original Buckeye though.

    Triple 7 or American Pioneer

I've been using 777 pellets in an inline I recently bought, but BP in traditional. I just picked up a pound of 777 loose FFG at Walmart on sale for $15. They have Pyrodex on sale for $9/lb. The crud ring is a pain. I usually put a lot of BP cleaning solvent on the patch to be sure it...

    Another useless nut

Buckeye that is. I'm glad I found this forum. I own and shoot every type of gun I can as most of you likely do, AR's, 1911's, M1's, levers, milsurps.... but I have always loved muzzleloaders, and I'm not even old! I bought a beautiful .54 T/C Hawken after going to Friendship in '02...

    peep sights fragile?

I think the T/C standard rear sight is delicate as I broke it two years in a row. I feel much more comfortable with the T/C "hunter style tang peep" site, $42 from Cabela's. Although I'm not experiencing deteriorating vision yet, I'm used to peeps and get much better accuracy. I should have...
