Can I use this rifle at Rendezvous?

many of the shoots i attend will let any wooden side lock or underhammer shoot. street clothes cost on your final score. 10 points for top middle and bottom. thirty points before you fire one shot is nothing to sneeze at. if it is wet i wear modern shoes and lose 10 points. and lots of campers...

    shooting dried black powder

if you attempt to dry just spread it FAR FAR FAR from any ignition source. one group of voyageurs on flipping their canoe spread the wet powder on a tarp to dry and as it was almost done one person walked across with his pipe and dropped an ash. set the whole lot off and received some injury...

Does anyone make a Ball-et type mold?

got the REAL 250gr mold as my slow twist barrel will not stabilize the 350gr size. shot last trip to range and seems to shoot fine. same size and weight as ballet in 50cal but easier to pour. i think getting the knurled portion of the ballet to fill on a regular basis would make pouring them...

    cleaning between range and field

co2 discharger will clear the channel with no noise or residue. then load as usual, then pull nipple and add a few grains of 4ffff. that first shot really matters JUST NOW. and make sure your caps fit on the nipple you have on your gun. DON'T ASK ME HOW I KNOW.

muzzle loaders cannot use a modern weapon to dispatch a wounded animal in wa st. if you call a knife a modern weapon then don't try it. i think they were around before guns ehhh. carry my percussion pistol for the second shot if needed

the last few file strokes off the lug or the sight or whatever is off the lug not the barrel. if you really mess up now you need a $2.oo part not a $200.00 dollar barrel

    Stock Carvings

build your gun heavy ie leave some wood where you want to carve. stain it and keep LOTS of extra stain. varnish finish so the oil doesn't soak in deep. shoot and enjoy while you learn to carve. start on pine then work to hardwood of the same as your stock. then spend next winter sanding of that...

    Kit suggestions

several of the mentioned companies sell kits to different levels of completion, all the to IN THE WHITE. means you need to sand the wood a little, blue or brown the metal, etc. can do inlays and decorative work before you stain. pecatonica makes the stocks for many of the other companies, gets top...
