    Military Heritage Arms or..

I'm going to guess "nothing by Thompson Center or any other manufacturer in the U.S." Just a feeling. :hmm:

Touch hole was drilled at a angle?

My CVA Kentucky .45 flinter has the touch-hole drilled on a slant towards the muzzle; it was done that way at the factory to miss the breechplug. Sounds strange but works just fine.

    Cheap import locks?

Never mind. Won't get drawn in. :hmm:

The Battle of Cowpens - "The Patriot"

I remember "The Young Rebels". In particular I remember the prop flintlock pistols built on trapdoor Springfield receivers. Big, ungainly, ugly and obvious.

How Fast Does A Flintlock Fire

That's quite a gun - I watched you shoot it over a dozen times without reloading!! :rotf:

    1842 Rifled Musket

Good grief. Kills on one end; wounds on the other.

    Belgian flintlock repro

I too had one like that, paid for by delivering papers also. Mine was about .54 caliber or so, with a two-piece stock; the joint was hidden by a barrel band. I bought mine for about the same price from J&G Rifle Ranch, before they were called J&G Sales (now out of business when the owner passed...

    argentinian brown bess???

When posting on the internet it can be difficult to tell just what a person means so I am prefacing my question by saying that I am not trying to challenge you or start something; just genuinely curious: Where do you find these Japanese Besses for that amount? I watch GunBroker and several...

    Kentucky pistol for deer hunting?

I have two of those CVA 70s era .45 caliber Kentucky pistols; one percussion and one flintlock. The problem and limiting factor with these pistols is the way the barrel is held to the stock. There is a tang bolt and there is a small amount of wood from the stock that protrudes under the brass...

    1862 Tower Enfield Preservation

Here's a link to an article talking about the methods and materials used at the Springfield Armory Museum written by one of their conservators; http://gpigun.com/Preserving.pdf . An interesting read, at least in my opinion.

    Tower Pistol- maker?

Owned several of these over the years, most said "EIG' and "Japan"on the side of the barrel opposite the lock. I bought my first one around 1970 or so from EMF and it was just under $20.00 and that included shipping. And even back then that was not very much money. EMF sold them, Dixie sold...

    Indian made flintlocks

"All I can say is the report of their examination was unlike other reports I have seen in the past and if a ML arm can be loaded and fired with ONLY POWDER there cannot be a bore obstruction. But the importer paid for the report and apparently got what he paid for..." I personally haven't seen...

    1861 Springfield Musket

We do not list links to sites with forums here, but if you go to the GunBroker auction site, you'll see a number of '61 Springfields for sale. Just do a search for "musket". I keep an eye on them; some of them have been listed over and over again for over a year or more with either no bidders or...

    CVA Kentucky Pistol?

CVa Kentucky pistols are what they are - a very basic pistol. I have two; one in flint, one percussion. The only caution that I would mention is the way the barrel is held in the stock. There is the tang bolt and the stock wood under that brass nosecap; and we're not talking very much wood...

    1861 Springfield Musket

Without pictures I would have to agree on that price range. Over the last couple of years I've picked up several Civil War era long arms; an 1816, an 1842 and an 1861. They have to be in pretty good condition to be worth $800.00; of course we're not talking museum quality but they need to be...

    Ron LaClaires knives

I bought a "Hunter" model longbow from Ron in 1989; drove down to Grand Ledge to pick it up at his shop. Ron was very helpful and a real gentleman. I still have that bow and probably always will. I've seen him and a fellow named Norm Blaker put on archery demonstrations that were incredible -...

Stumpkiller - is this the Ron LaClair from Grand Ledge, Michigan? The well-known traditional archer?
