    Revolvers: Strapped or Strapless?

I shoot CAS with a pard who shoots a pair of these and he shoots them well, I on the other hand really love my '51 Navies.

    1851 Navy revolver

There are some folks shooting 51's in CAS that have done the dovetail and new front sight, also cut the notch in the hammer deeper. Another method is to remove the exhisting front sight and press a new one in. most of them are just a press fit and should come out with a little work. you can make...

    Thinking about a 1851 Navy--need advice

I bought a brace of them from Cabela's this spring and they are great! Can't say what they do on paper, only shot a couple cylinders at paper. However at cowboy targets they are Boss! I've run several hundred rounds through them so far no major problrms. Go for it you will not regret them and if...

    Why 40.cal. and not .45????

Well I guess it all depends on what you want to do with it. I've always felt the .45 was a little lite for deer and such and a little heavy for small game. Of course it could be I've always just wanted a .40 for giggles and grins. Oh well this is just my feeling.

    Flint question

Good advice here from Rebel, I will only add that sometimes it varies from flint to flint as well. I normally start with the flint bevel up but sometimes the rifle seems to like a particular flint bevel down. I guess flint locks are a lot like women, only they know what they want and it isn't...

    The round ball

"I thought tank barrels were rifled, and the plastic sabot around the depleted uranium 'fletchette' gets the stabilation rotation going, same as a patch / sabot does in a rifled muzzleloader" Negative, the 120MM gun on the M-1A1 and follow on models is a smoothbore. Most of the later Soviet...

Some time ago someone was looking for a mould for a.62, Mid Way is having a "sale" they have or at least had two .600 Lyman moulds for $38 and some change, I think it was $38.13 but don't hold me to it. I think the web site is www.midway.com Good shooting to ya. Hawkeye

    Powders and charges

Here you go, This outfit will ship via UPS to you with a minimum order of five pounds, most of the others require 25. http://www.powderinc.com/ I have not used this company but they seem to have a good reputation in the BPCR community. Good luck and happy shooting. Watch yer backtrail, Hawkeye

Folks said dumb questions were ok?

Some time ago there was a very good article in "Muzzle Blasts" about barrel bending. I think it was the Bevel Brothers. Yes according to them it is done and can be used to regulate a smoothbore to shoot to the front sight. Perhaps somene can find and post the article. Hawkeye

Selling a gun through Track of the Wolf

    Wiping between shots 2

I don't think I would use windex with amonia in any black powder rifle I own, there is nothing in the fowling which water will not remove. If you simply must use something some of the folks I shoot black powder cartridge rifles with swear by windex with vinegar. Watch 'yer topknot Hawkeye
