    Lyman GPR question

You should be able to shoot RB as well, you might not be able to use maximum charge but with moderate loads RB should work quite well in 1-32 barrel.

    Ramin ramrods?

I have used Ramin for ramrods by selecting a few from large bins for zero runout. Dont waste your time. Either brass rod or split hickory are your best choices. The noodles arent too bad.

    Startin fires the Skunkskinner way..

The "Deluxe-Plus" version has the "toiletries" .. on a stick, and by the way, the red and white version explaination is right on.

    Barrel bulged

If I hadnt forgotten to cut the patch at the muzzle and had the 2' strip hanging out of the muzzle like a wind flag Id have done the same thing recently. Its easier than ya might think. :idunno:

    ballbag

"I am thinking of doubling the wall of the neck with extra leather, to give it stiffness, which will help keep it closed should the bag be upended, and the plug fall out. To open, simply pinch the sides of the neck to let a ball come out or go in the neck one at a time. :hmm:" Ive doubled the...

    Vent picks help

I use hammered copper wire. No spark worries (I admit I havent worried about that anyway), the hammering hardens it so it doesnt bend easily and its cheap (3" of 12ga wire).

    TC Firestorm flintlock

Can you get that with the Gore-tex "cow's knee"?
  8. F

I bought my first Flintlock :)

Be carefull with the dremel. It gives the regular guy the ability to make massive errors in a fraction of the time it used to take.

    Top jaw screw

Was that fireball a little bigger than you thought it would be?

    Top jaw screw

A small piece of slow-match wouldn't take up much space in a pouch. Just convert it to a temporary matchlock.

    Wooden hand planes

Making Traditional Wooden Planes by John M. Whelan is a good book, I got mine at Amazon. For plane irons, look at hocktools.com for a start. Custom/replacement plane irons are expensive. Tool steel isnt too expensive and flat sharp plane irons are pretty straight forward to make.

    New GPR, no spark

That "stupid guy" sure gets around. People ought not let him anywhere near their firearms.

    Lyman GPR ramrod

My range rod is 3/8" brass rod, threaded each end 10-32.

    Lyman cock problem

Mount the flint bevel down, that will raise the place first struck on the frizzen. Ive been meaning to try that Davis Deerslayer trigger swap although the trigger on mine isn't too bad.

Still Trying to Light That Candle...

+1 on the Monk's Cloth. It looks like basket weave leather decoration, 4-5 threads over and under to make the cloth, its thick and chars well. Wally World..

I vote for Ken's version

    Over engineered??

Here is the babelfish version, I can't claim to "completly comprehend" this article from this translation. :rotf: It's all run together but perhaps with the documants pulled up "side-by-side" and reviewed "slide-by-slide" :idunno: P.S. this is for educational purposes ONLY and credit to the...

flint questions from a new guy

My GPR definitely prefers the flint bevel down and 1+ for Rich Pierce's flints.

    cleaning solutions

Amylase is present in saliva.. so.. just spit into your favorite cleaning solvent to add the "enzyme effect". Can't hurt.
