    Pecan For Stock

I found a 1-3/4" x 10"x 10' nice clean plank of Hickory at a local specialty wood shop really cheap . Nice and straight without any bow in it.Figure to get 3 or 4 stocks from it for some skinny Southern style guns

    Drill Rods?

I just took a brad point bit , turned the shank down to 3/16" for 1/2", and then drilled a hole in the cold rolled extention rod and silver soldered together. The brad point seems to help pilot and works good. I clear chips every inch and lube with beeswax.

    Installing a breech plug

I remove the first 2 threads at face of plug down to the root depth so they dont interfere when seating against bore . I use the Loctite silver antiseize and just an ever so light coat works wonders.
