    Help me identify this flintlock

If you can locate a machine shop or garage in your area that has a fiber optic scope then you can get a good look at the bore. I believe that you are looking for a brass nose cap, take some measurements and check with Track of the Wolf for one that can be made to fit.

    1800's Turkey Shoot?

The term "Hooking" may pertain to a device best described as a wire rod approx. four feet long and bent somewhat like a sheperds crook used to hook the leg of a chicken or turkey. A lot easier than trying to capture one while getting flailed with wings and spurs.

Do I need to lube the wad?

From my childhood memories....a teaspoon full of cod liver oil will make you "shoot clean" for several days. Best gun lube I have used is bear fat and castor oil.

I bought a new purse. Don't judge me yet.

This particular Tandy kit can be quite easily "modified" to look and serve better as a shooting bag. Remove the lacing around the bag,you will now have three pieces(four if you separate the joined gusset at the bottom). Cut the tops of gusset piece to remove the strap, leave length enough to...

Questions on Two Old Leather Tools

Excellant information (as usual. Two things that my Dad taught me about a draw knife. Angle the blade "back" slightly, this will make the cutting edge contact the grain face first and help in stopping the "ride up" that often occurs. When you think that the blade is sharp enough, strop it some...

    Venison/Pork Sausage Recipe?

Try 3tbsp sage,1tbsp red pepper flakes,2tbsp kosher salt,2tbsp black pepper per 4lbs meat mix. The bacon is my choice for breakfast however a fatty(cheap) pork butt works well for spaghetti sauce or mixed 50/50 with ground beef makes a flavorful meatloaf. Trim off the deer fat. I cube the meat...

    Venison/Pork Sausage Recipe?

We have a 3rd generation meat shop in the area that often runs a special on slab bacon. I have him pick out the "overly" fat slabs that he does not like to sell (bargin). Chill and mix/grind 1 lb to 2 to 2.5 lb. venison. Cook this up and add some scrambled eggs topped with some sharp cheese and...
