Lock lube; oil or grease ?

I remember Jim Chambers being asked the most prevalent cause of lock problems. He was very adamant, they don't lubricate them! I use Mobile 1 oil and Mobile 1 one grease. One purchase of each and my great grandchildren will still be using it, well hopefully. Robin

    Advantages/Disadvantages of 3f with Shot???

Thank yo Britsmoothy for the picture. I'm still not sure if I understand the classification correctly. I just took this picture of Goex powder in three sizes The 2F averages about .050-.062, or about a 1/16" depending where on its irregular shape you measure. The 4F measures about .005" before...

    Advantages/Disadvantages of 3f with Shot???

I am curious about the powder itself. Is 4f powder in England the same as 4F powder here in the States, like Goex? Robin

Need Help Jäger Rifle Load nothing works😩😩

Wow! After all you have tried I would try crowning the barrel by removing it from the gun, starting with 220 paper folded over the end of my finger or thumb, rock the barrel back and forth with one hand while rocking the 220 tipped finger on the corner of the bore. go around it a few times or...

    FOR SALE Powder horn

I made this many, many moons ago and pretty much never used it, I like my horns waterproof. The brass nozzle must be pretty rare these days, I couldn't find one on supply sites today. Its a left hand carry, about 11-1/2" long on the outside curve. Seems like it ought to be worth $150.00 shipped...

    Your Flintlock History

Back in the 70's I got a Dixie, left hand, .50, Mountain Rifle. I loved it but it had 'Made in Japan' on the top of the barrel and because of that I never could warm up to it. I sold it and it was many rears before I could replace it. I still like the lines of that Dixie rifle and have made a...

    Ballistol

I wonder if Balistol is like asparagus? For some people asparagus makes their pee take on a very pungent odor, others not. Some people have no problem with the odor from Balistol, some, like me, it literally takes my breath away! I still use it but until I mix it down with water I have to hold...

    Carving Wood

To me, a good hard piece of cherry is a joy to work with and carves nice, but in my limited experience, English, or European Walnut is the best carving wood used in gun stocks. Robin

.45 cal. Vincent/ Ohio rifle for deer?

A .45 is a .45 and fully capable of taking a deer, no matter the configuration. I happen to like the Vincent style Ohio guns and have made a percussion in .36. If I get the time I plan to make a flint version in .45 for that very purpose. Robin
