    H&A underhammer

the gun is in good shape good bore, but inside the brass nipple shield, the surface of the barrl wall is lower than outside the shield, so it looks like i have about 4 threads for nipple to grab,? but looks factory done?

    H&A underhammer

I picked up a 45 today at a local shop. I removed the nipple and the thread depth is less than 1/4, not much meat there, but the nipple threads are 5/16 and would stick into the bore. there was a washer on it also. It is the heritage model

    How tight is too tight?

I fit a barrel to tight on one of my first builds, and just thought I'd take a look under it the other day,and took out all the pins the tang bolt and gave it the usual tap like Hershel taught us in his vidio, and it still wont come out. It only comes out at tang moving foward about a foot and...

    breech plug issue again

Thanks Zonie for your helpful information. It felt a little sloppier than other barrels I breeched, but I get what your talking about, its kind of like what they call a crushed fit, where the threads move a bit into position. Another Rebore question

Round ball The ridge of metal Im talking about is in the barrel where the plug buts to and it seals the threads off to stop corrosion. I got my plug here infront of me too.

    Another Rebore question

Hi Roundball! When the plug is out, on a tc 54 you can see a little ridge in front of the threads. When this gets bored out to 62 that ridge will be gone and thats where te very edge of that patent breech butted to. Im getting it bored anyway, I know the guy knows what he's doing. Maybe they do...

    Another Rebore question

Thanks Zonie and Runnball for your reply. I'll see If I can get it done to a 56. I pulled the plug myself last night, and noticed jus a small ridge of metal where the bore meets the threads. I'd like to try to freshen it out myself but it doesnt look like enough rifling to pour a lead lap and...
