YEEEEHAAAA I got it!!! now what load?

For flinching....get an assistant to prime your pan. Have them prime it or not, without you knowing. Then have them bust your stones when you flinch on an empty pan.

    54 vs 58 chart

A 58. PRB with 70 grains aimed where the neck meets the body of a whitetail will drop them like a rock ( 30/35 yards).Ball ends up under the skin on the opposite side. Field dressing on a hit like that is so much nicer than pulling out a bunch of mangled organs. Whompability.

    What is you hunting plans?

Having a bad time this year with the whitetail in the garden. They're eating everything and if they don't stop I'll be eating them.

Would chestnut make a good gun stock?

I salvaged a barn with handhewn chestnut beams and 1"x various width chestnut planks in it. It works like pine but rot resistant. It definatly has a high retail end for flooring but I wouldn't use it for stocks. Look to see if you have any walnut in there. I found a couple of hand hewn walnut...

    HOPKINS & ALLEN barrel

What are you thinking of putting together now? Had a 58 cal. 1 in 72 inch twist that was dead on. Not sure about the 45. For myself it would depend on the price. Don't forget, Friendship is just around the corner. I recall someone picking up a 42 inch 50 cal swamped octagon barrel off of a...

    Tulle Kit has arrived.

Good going there,82 airborne. Love the way those Tulles shoulder. Are there any detailed pics of an original Tulle in this forum?

    Would you buy it?

So..that would equal out to 50 U.S. dollars. Lock, stock and hardware would be worth it alone.

    Pawn shop find

It's great ,ain't it? After watching a 50 cal perc. Lyman Trade sit on the back wall of the local pawn shop for about a month, I got it for 80 bucks. Everybody wanted the inlines and not the sidelocks, Duh!

    flintlock rifle

Blowing moist air down a barrel never made much sense to me. Almost as much sense as putting your finger down the muzzle to check bore size.

anyone know what kind of bird?

Coming to a screen near you!

anyone know what kind of bird?

Depends on the size as to whether pigeon or dove. If it was the size of a Mourning Dove, then it was a dove. Looks to me to be a young pigeon , newly fledged to the world.Mature pigeons don't usually sit in trees like that, young birds will. I've been raising them off and on for 43 years.

    Reproduction Enfield

Is the asking price worth the lock, stock and hardware without the barrel?

    New Underhammer Rifle

We've got a cane gun in the family that's an underhammer. It looks to be made by BABCOCK, hard to tell as the barrel has been sanded at some point in time. Has a detachable stock and the trigger appears when the hammer is pulled into firing position. Also am an underhammer enthusiast. Left hand...

    tipi poles

Excellant for lodge poles. I harvested some that were dead, standing, from a swamp in South Jersey. They will outlast about any other poles. Red cedar (Juniper Virginianus sp.) is good also, though it does taper quickly if grown in the open. Find some grown in a cedar thicket for longer, slender...

    My sentiments also.

    Iratic flinter

Could put a liner in, if the liner would encompass the original TH.
