It appears that right eye surgery went well yesterday. I could see fairly well when I got out of surgery. Not great but not bad. Couldn’t help myself so after ai got home I took a peek with Mr. Crockett. I could see the front sight fairly well but the tang peep was a blur.

Had to be at the surgeons office first thing this morning. He checked me out and said everything is good and I’m right where I’m supposed to be at this point. Tested out to 20/40. He said things will slowly improve. Might take 2-3 weeks.

A few minutes ago I thought I’d give it another try so I shouldered Mr. Crockett. I’m pleased to report that both sights are clear even though I’m testing to 20/40, or did earlier this morning. Even though it’s cloudy out, I could clearly see the small pearl bead on my front sight. That’s never happened before. It had to be in sunlight in order for me to see that pearl bead.

Next I grabbed my GPR. Same kind of front sight with a different style peep. Both were basically clear with the peep being a tad fuzzy. It is completely doable, however.

I cannot explain how or why I can see those pearl white front beads now when before it had to be in the sunlight, even though I was testing out to 20/20 with corrected lenses. The only thing I can think of is it had to have been the cataract.

Also, due to not being able to wear glasses with this new lens installed, now lm finding that every time I look at my desktop screen or this cell, my vision in my left eye is obscured big time afterwards. Definitely cataract related. Left eye surgery in 2 weeks.

I hope this information helps anyone that may be experiencing the same issues. I will update as things progress.
HE double hockey sticks YEAH!

Thanks, Fred.

Indeed, no sense in rushing it. Can’t see squat out of my left eye so I might as well wait until after the 10th when the left eye gets done. If the left eye turns out anything like the right eye, I’ll be good to squirrel hunt after the 11th.
He's gonna be a hunting fool for sure.

I was in the woods by sunup this morning. About half an hour later a squirrel jumped on a branch about 20 feet in front of me, I missed don't know why maybe to close. About 20 minutes later I see one working towards me he stopped stopped 20 yards out, got him. I walked for a another hour seen 2 more but couldn't get a shot. But at least I got one.

Well done buddy 👍

I went out Saturday morning and I had 3 of them pop up from the weeds about 10 feet from me. I didn't think that was a very sporting chance at ten feet, so I gave them a pass. I ended up shooting 3 by the end of the day. They seemed to be fairly active that day, but the wind made them hard to detect up in the trees. I was hoping the storm the night before would have takin more leaves down, but it didn't seem to.

Got out at first light and hunted a walnut grove I planted in '87. Squirrels were active, but these old eyes couldn't see the sights! Missed three and decided it best to wait until full sunlight. Then my dog shows up (wife let him out). I'm a half mile from the house, he's having a great time and the squirrel I'm sneaking doesn't like it one bit. After still hunting a while, I decided to just sit and the dog continues hunting. Decided to try again tomorrow (without the dog) when a small pine squirrel appears. Had to unload anyway, so I tried a 30 yard sitting shot and, of course, rolled him. Then went home and had coffee.

Sounds like a good day. I'm with you on the eyesight. I've had to either pot fiber optic sights, or paint my irons. I still have just as much fun missing them though. Ever quits raining here, I'd like to get out some more before deer season opens up.

Our rain is supposed to end Wednesday Tom. I’ll be hunting the rest of the week. At least while it rains, I’m getting stuff mounted in the shop. But I am getting antsy. I forget what the sun looks like!

Good for work Jim, bad for play. Where was this rain when we needed it. I considered taking a rimfire for a walk to be honest, more to do some scouting for deer hunting. But, if the opportunity arose.....
