They still are. I bought a new in box 2nd generation Colt 1861 on Gun Broker two months ago.

It would be used with cartridges for defense.

I was just hoping someone made a much better pistol than the replicas seem to be.

Might end up having to go with a Schofield if S&W is still producing them in the regular version. I see a $4,500 engraved version, but there's no way.

Might go with the Uberti clone, though I'd hate to do so.

Almost bought an 1872 replica once; wish now I had. Pointed almost like an 1851 and took .38spl. Soft lead wadcutters turned on their heads would have done the trick very nicely.

But we're getting beyond the 'scope of muzzleloading here, I think, and I'm not going to jack up the board.
