I have a friend that want to sell me his father browning 50 cal mountain rifle, steel finishes, excellent shape maybe shot a dozen times. would like to pay him a fair price. Anyone have an opinion on value. thanks

Take a HARD look at the bore, and check to see if it's loaded before doing anything else. ;)

IF the bore is without pitting, then it may be worth as much as $600-$700 as some have already written. IF the bore is pitted and rough which sometimes is merely having been left alone for a long time, then offer no more than $400, and then send the barrel off to Bob Hoyt, for a reaming and possible re-rifling.
