Welp ...let's start makin the trigger guard ...gonna make 3 of em . get this big @$$ piece of 100+ year old steel and cut it to length , then rip out three pieces 1/2" wide ....first wheel blew up , got pitched and cut the ship outta my hand to the bone on the fi get but nothin more than that thank the Lord . Wish I had a band saw to use for that step ... Then I put em in the forge , er uhm ....woodstove since I ain't got no d@mn coal for my forge yet , looking everywhere .... I heat em ta cherry red completely and slow cool to anneal them .Then on the new anvil I hammer the metal for the bow , widening it , watching length with pattern as I go ... Then I bend the T.G. at my happy spots , bend the bow section over my mandrels , adjust and tweek it a bit here and there using my Pryor Mountain Bill Newton pattern as guide , AND .... I gotta N.W. gun trigger guard blank !! I have ta pound , grind and file the tangs and finials yet but let's get the other two to this stage before I start all that cr@p .... Coffee time ....and had to skin and pull some meat off the deer a bit too .... Busy busy busy
