Only 6-pounds for a 48" barreled flint smoothie? Cool ... that'll be a winner for running my Winter MZL primitive snowshoe biathlon competitions!Time to not only slim it all down but to refine and define ... These are the beginning pics. Just weighed her for first time .... 6.03 pds. !!
Well for some body that builds from a plank your being pretty modestI appreciate the compliment bud but I'm not a good builder . I mean I'll build someone a good gun , not gonna peddle off a piece of junk on someone but .....when I see the work of a good builder it makes me a little embarrassed of my work . I have still yet to figure out how to sharpen a chisel correctly ! LOL ! And I'm not talking about fancy rifles or such , checkering , over engraving , a premium curly stock and a flintlock covered in incised and raised carvings .... I can appreciate the work but its gaudy and over the top to me, no appeal to me in the least , I dont like it but ....a good builder ....his flowing lines , his impeccable inletting with out the least little gap , the barrel inlet perfectly ( 3/4 showing at muzzle ,1/2 at breech ) , perfect balance and finish ... Love it . Ken Netting comes first and foremost when I think of a d@mn good builder .
Ya all are very kind and I appreciate it . Just d@mn ole trade guns ! LOL!Well for some body that builds from a plank your being pretty modest
my friend, just my opinion .You build pieces of art and very nice ones
at that .
Well said … a shared opinion amongst many here, is my guess! And OMG, the pure entertainment & learning from Rob’s posting style is awesome too.Well for some body that builds from a plank your being pretty modest

Very kind Sir , thank you . Funny ... I was just telling a nice older fella about my guns yesterday . He just didn't understand anything I was saying , did not understand the appeal of a trade gun or why in the h&// I would work / build on a gun for two months ... especially a " shotgun that is 6 foot long .... " . " Why dont you make 50 caliber percussion rifles for a couple hundred bucks?!" .... So I sure thank you all for your interest and you input , very much . So few folks I can talk to about building or about historical firearms in general . I'm in my evening comfy spot now , day is over , work in the shop done and now can talk , well , type , to folks that have similar interests . Pretty neat Funny , even the few folks that like muzzle loaders in this area scoff at flintlocks , let alone flintlock " shotguns " , LOL .... So this forum is great for meWell said … a shared opinion amongst many here, is my guess! And OMG, the pure entertainment & learning from Rob’s posting style is awesome too.
