HELP! Prussian Blue in wife's carpet!`

Wife tried nail polish remover (I think it is acetone based??). It worked fine.

Was gonna suggest Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber as it is safe to use on most plastics used in guns. Tried it on some carpet fibers I had on hand and they didn't dissolve. Most likely it WOULD remove Prussian Blue... but if nail polish remover worked, then it worked. Zippo lighter fluid removes most inks and oil-based paints as well, dunno how it would work on carpeting though.

I know this is of absolutely no help but next time don’t work over the carpet. Have you tried mineral spirits or paint thinner, they are basically the same and are good solvents. Maybe nail polish remover would work.
Hoping you survive this and she doesn’t take all your fun toys away.

I would try lacquer thinner. I once had to remove very pervasive purple plastic pipe primer from a white fuzzy sliding door seal. Using a thinner wetted rag carefully pull the stained pile toward you and immediately wipe with clean cloth in same manner to absorb the soiled thinner. repeat as needed. Good ventilation is advised. Lots of luck. YMMV

Before trying any chemical, I would advise testing the chemical on a piece of the carpet that is normally out of sight, like under a couch.

Did not know where to post this so, I thought this would be the most logical.

Somehow, I was building a gun and using prussian blue for inletting purposes, and tracked a couple spots into the carpet.

Has anyone a good method of removing this? Need your help.

Any leftover carpet pcs….have a carpet layer come and pc in where the stain is ….they can do wonders…worth a try…Good luck…

Your wife can't be any more upset than mine when the wire tore and the cork blew out of my bottle of home made champagne allowing it to blow the entire contents on the white plaster ceiling and wall in the kitchen. I feel your pain. As a professional artist I always try NOT to use Prussian Blue. No matter how careful I am, it still gets on something: hands, elbows, shoes, carpets, face; you name it. Love the color but absolutely hate using it. To be honest, get a professional carpet cleaner to do it. Once you hit it with mineral spirits or turpentine or something like that, it spreads the color into a wider area. You also might want to contact the manufacture of the paint for some suggestions. I just did some research on this. You can try an alkili, like baking soda or even ammonia. It will react with the Prussian blue and make it more soluable. Then you need to soak or blot it up.

Yeah. You're boned. I worked at a foundry and some scamp put Prissian blue on the handset of the telephone in the break room. A woman with a nice cashmere wool sweater used it . . . and although the culprit was never identified the sweater and poor woman's ear were not right again. At least the ear eventually cast off enough skin to be "normal".

And, in this case, it wasn't me!

Depends on what the carpet's made of and how deep the stains are embedded. Suggest contacting the manufacturer if possible for the best solution. Anything else is going to be trial and error. That stuff is potent.

Exactly!! One never knows what fiber your carpet is made of but it is a huge factor. Call a pro don't mess with it.
