Hello,
Is using Iosso bore cleaner ok to remove rust and crud that normal cleaning won't??

OP was about using Iosso bore cleaner to remove rust and crud that normal cleaning wasn’t removing. Curious how you use MAP to remove rust?I think it's a bit overboard. It is made for modern guns. i use MAP, Murphy's Oil Soap, isopropyl alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide in equal amounts, It is also a good patch lube.
The OP can make his decision on what ever he wants. Clean your gun the right way, every time, and there is no rust. Simple.OP was about using Iosso bore cleaner to remove rust and crud that normal cleaning wasn’t removing. Curious how you use MAP to remove rust?
I've heard of that. I haven't tried it, but it may work well. i don't think one needs to pay $9 for one half an ounce + shipping.Marvel Mystery oil works good. It's available at nearly any auto parts store
No about the post above using peroxide. I am not familiar with Lasso at all.tenngun, are you talking about how Iosso works??
Plain water does clean, but there are methods that does the same thing quicker. i choose quicker. No about the post above using peroxide. I am not familiar with Lasso at all.
I just use water in my guns, but folks use just about anything to clean.
the very best way is what works for you.
So I guess if there is rust you toss the gun? But you have never seen rust in a bore, so OPs question about rust is pure silliness…..The OP can make his decision on what ever he wants. Clean your gun the right way, every time, and there is no rust. Simple.
Losso bore cleaner will not hurt your bore if you use it to remove rust and crud that normal cleaning won’t. Leaving the rust and crud in the bore that normal cleaning won’t may damage the bore.Is using Iosso bore cleaner ok to remove rust and crud that normal cleaning won't??
It seems I have offended you.So I guess if there is rust you toss the gun? But you have never seen rust in a bore, so OPs question about rust is pure silliness…..

No, not offended at all. I was just attempting to answer the OP’s question. OP asked about cleaning up rust on a gun with Losso and didn’t need to told don’t let it rust. Kind of like asking for what to take to feel better when one has a cold and being told don’t catch a cold.It seems I have offended you.
Despite the simple alphabetic/qualitative ("Brawndo has electrolytes") approach to molecular chemistry here, using hydrogen peroxide in the concentrations that people do in mixing up these gun-cleaning concoctions will not produce rust-enhancing levels of peroxide.Every ml has their own best way, and all are the best. I would take care with hydrogen peroxide. H2O2. Water is H2O. An oxygen atom with two hydrogen atoms bound to it. Peroxide binds another oxygen atom. It’s loosely bound. That’s where he foam comes from.
to clean with it the extra oxygen atom breaks off, and the out gassing loosens crud, the extra oxygen can bind with carbon and makes it easy to break crud out.
However oxygen binds with iron and steel real well creating rust.
Use caution when using it in a barrel
I put bacon fat on my cast iron, and never had rust. But won’t put it on a gunDespite the simple alphabetic/qualitative ("Brawndo has electrolytes") approach to molecular chemistry here, using hydrogen peroxide in the concentrations that people do in mixing up these gun-cleaning concoctions will not produce rust-enhancing levels of peroxide.
On normal steel, there's no concern about peroxide itself being corrosive or enhancing corrosion if its concentration is below 8%. Corrosion charts for it typically begin at 10%. The concentration in the OTC drugstore peroxide you get is on the level of 3%. Then consider that that is being significantly diluted! So in fact, at the concentrations being used in all these Moose Milk (or whatever ) cleaners, the only thing to be worried about is that you're just wasting the peroxide because it's having no effect at all at those low concentrations. Not to mention that even with fairly concentrated hydrogen peroxide, if you want it to be reactive within a short period, you need to boost the temperature up to something like 50 degrees C (120 degrees F).
But y'all can sure continue to believe what you like. We've all gotta have our magic elixirs and fears of scary chemicals.
