I've been reading some bad reports on the current production rifles , saying that the barrels are junk . Anyone have experience with these newer rifles ?

Have not heard the barrel junk deal. They had a barrel recall several years ago. I think most of the problems people are having are fit and finish on the factory made rifles and the kits.I think their hardware is fine,Investarm has been making these rifles for more than 40+ years. Best to look at the gun or kit gun you are buying in person,if not, if you buy online and its not up to your expectations send it back.If they get enough back maybe they will fix their quality control issues! Or the best thing to do is buy a 15-20 year old one and start shooting.They a fun guns.
The current Lyman GPR is made by Pedersoli, not Investarm.

I believe that Pedersoli only makes one model of GPR.

Yes I know Pedersoli makes them now.But I think most of the grumbling about quality has been about the Investarm guns of the last 4 or 5 years. I think the Pedersoli gun will have few quality control issues. You would be lucky to find a Pedersoli Plains gun right now.And for $900 to a $1000 dollars retail,there are far better alternatives to buy.

You are right,Pedersoli makes the Signature Great Plains rifle.The Trade Rifle,Deerstalker and Plains Pistol are still made by Investarm as far as I know. And they all are "out of stock" on the Lyman Website.

I bought a Pedersoli/ Lyman GPR in flintlock last spring, and have had a late eighties production GPR in perc. for over twenty years. It took me a bit to warm up to the flinter, as it is a whole new breed from the old model. The old percussion is several lbs. lighter, which makes carrying easier. the Pedersoli leaf spring lock and triggers are far superior to the old (but entirely dependable and serviceable) coil spring lock. Wood finish on the new is much superior, as long as you do not mind a glossy finish...I actually prefer the old one myself. Overall metal finish is much better with a much more polished deep blued barrel. The rear sight is much better on the new than the old. THis is my first flinter, so I have to go by others word that the ignition is very fast....but I can certainly say that with most shots it is difficult to notice any lag from flash to main charge ignition. I have grown very fond of my flinter but do wish it wasnt quite so heavy, but I do shoot it better than my percussion, and hit the 100 yard gong much more freq. than with my old percusion gpr.

Yes my question was about the currently produced Lyman GPR , not the GPR signature series made by pedersoli .
From what I have read and the Lyman’s website, they seem to no longer offer an Investarm GPR, just the Pedersoli signature series. Lyman does sell a Trade Rifle and a Deerstalker Rifle that I believe is made by Investarm, but they are different than the GPR.
Investarm has not been in stock under its own brand for a while. As said above,
Perdersoli now does Lyman private label rifles. Pedersoli is a premium hi-line
manufacturer of reproductions. There is a Youtube video of the Pedersoli factory,
and Cap and Ball did a Pedersoli Factory visit and Review. Seems modern and top notch.
Master smiths finish the guns by hand. They have a complete barrel manufacturing line.
I would review my basis for calling the barrel junk. If there are defects, Lyman will
correct them if timely brought to their attention.

My early 2000's Investarms GPR .54 has been great, but the rifling was sharp and cut patches on loading. Also made for difficult loading overall when fouled. Scrubbed the bore with scotchbrite a couple hundred passes and really helped a lot. Coned the muzzle which makes it even better. They're great rifles.

I bought an Investarms GPR this past spring. Barrel has some tooling marks on the outside and the rifling was sharp at the muzzle. Smoothed the crown out and polished the inside with steel wool. Other than that it’s a fine rifle and shoots about a 1.5” group at 50 yards.
Presently Investarms is marketing a Gemmer Hawken, which is basically the Lyman GPR rebranded. Links follow.

Thanks I searched for Investarm and did not find them. I own the
Hawken Carbine from Kit. Light and fast--accurate shooter.
JUST CHECKED MID-SOUTH, those are Pedersoli from my
take/ they say Lyman. I have not found the Investarms for two years,
since before Covid.. I searched for Investarm(s) Nothing. They are
a great manufacturer- if they are in business.

If you look on midsouth’s website they’re sold as Lyman, but made by Investarm. I bought the 50 cal and the barrel is marked as investarm.
