More finished pics ifn they'll load ... I got the lock working correctly , safely but it won't stay at full **** in the stock SO ....its obviously hanging up somewhere in the mortice or the trigger is too high and needs to be taken down a bit .... After coffee break I'll get on that ... I really like this N.W. gun !Than

If its easy enough, remove the trigger guard and trigger. If the lock holds at full ****, trip it with a small screwdriver. If all works well, I’d bet the trigger bar might be a bit too high. Seems to be a test that works for me. Best wishes!

Thanks bud ... It was the tumbler , notch too deep . Full **** the sear arm way too low ...I replaced the tumbler ...working great now ....

Doc White of GRRW fame built a copy of a NW Trade Gun from pictures and measurements from an original one seen in the 1960 at the Denver Art Museum. He built this gun for me off theses pictures and measurements. What was really neat was the caliber of the gun, a .50 caliber smoothbore.

Doc had his barrel maker produce the size, length and caliber of the original. The gun was heavier than the normal 20 gauge reproductions of today. Once done I had Jonathan of "Buckskins & Black Powder" test fire, sight in and give it a close look.

Do to age and a few health conditions I sold the gun to TOTW and it was resold to a gentleman in southern Utah. Both Jonathan and Keith have had the same experiences with shoot this gun at either 25 yards or 50 yards ... ONE RAGGED HOLE FOR THREE SHOT GROUPS. That's with sighting off the tang screw (no rear sight).

I get a chance I'll send the video's of Jonathan shooting this smoothbore.
