We have an old saying in the Marine Corps, "It's not the dope on the gun, it's the dope behind it". Semper Fi.
I notice you use the phrase "Semper Fi" after all your posts. When I was in the Corp it was only considered appropriate to use that slogan when it was from one Marine to another. To use it after every post seems flippant & disrespectful to me. Of course I was on active duty many years ago, so the culture may have change. Is it now acceptable to say "Semper Fi" to everybody? Just curious if our honored traditions have fallen to that degree.

Viet Vet Marine and proud to be a Marine 'til the day I die. Then in the afterlife, I'll be NCOIC of the Marine Guard on St. Peter's Gate. Semper Fi.

PS. 8 years Marine Corps, 24 US Army. Still running combat missions at 58 years old in Afghanistan. Here's me in 2011, FOB Apache, Qalat. 12B Route Clearance. I retired 2014.

I think this guy was like 20 or 25 feet up. He turned out to be a wee li'l thing. I used 75 grains square load with same measure of corn meal (carried in per-measured tubes).
I missed him my first shot and was dancing around the tree with him while loading, so with my fusil staying pointed up I didn't even bother with an overshot wad to quicken my shot.
It was a nice day out in the back woods.
