Oh Jeff uses a couple to shim the lock when marking the lines around the bolster. It keeps it flat while you position the lock. What was up with that popsicle stick? There one minute, gone the next. I know your teacher, you couldn't have a better one.
Making progress inletting the lock guts.

Thank you!Your lock inlet looks like it was done with a CNC machine!! Well done!
Thanks it's a learning process.Nice guts.
I know it's a terrible habit! Gets in the way of other priorities. Happy New year! This doesn't leave any time to knap flints to make sparks for the new rifle.
Thank you. I keep a journal of everything I'm learning from my mentor. A lot of notes and sketches. It's been a great learning experience.Great work and progress. Great documentation too.
The Czech Republic as it is known today, is roughly divided between two provinces; Bohemia and Moravia. Bohemia in the west and Moravia in the east.I once referred to myself and several siblings as "Bohemians". An aunt was not happy with that statement and told us that "We are Moravian not Bohemiam". For us who may not know, what is a Moravian style rifle?
Looks like a lot less work than the Fowler trigger guard!!I went to Jeff's shop for a few hours and worked on inletting the double set triggers. After bending the trigger plate to match the contour we aligned it to the sear and outlined the front most part of it.

Next we stabbed it in inside the pencil lines and started hogging out some wood. We work from front to the back until it started to lay down.

Once it bottomed out we started to remove some wood for the triggers.

We went all the way down to the opening where the sear is and check our alignment.

Jeff added a piece of wire to make it easier to remove the plate each time we tapped it to get an impression using Prussian blue.

Well that's enough work. I'll finish the job in my shop. Thanks for looking!
