Not sure where you live but you've mentioned the Amish in the past. They might be your best bet for finding a good leather dressing for that belt. With all the harnesses they use, they'll know where to get the best product that's still available.

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

PS - Very much in awe of your multiple talents. I really enjoy reading, and learning from, all your posts.

Rob, y'all sure are making me miss my old Lancaster No. 40. I used it with a Tim Lively washtub charcoal forge, charcoal being much simpler than coal/coke for the clueless idiot to manage ... 😄

I made one of those when I first started forging knives back in about 2006. Worked great but charcoal was expensive and I did have access to hardwood to make my own. Nice looking forge!

Ha! I use my forge more for melting lead than actual blacksmith work!😄

Funny you'd mention that ....since Forged in Fire and the like these forged have gone to stupid prices .... I was finally to the point where I was gonna build a forge just like you said , I've been looking for awhile now ....then this just popped up ! AND it was $150 !! Swing !!!
I started bladesmithing about the time forged in fire started (didn’t know it existed for three years). I had to build my first three forges because everyone was buying them up for stupid prices.

Exactly .... The anvils were never cheap but Lordy ! After forged in fire aired anything associated with forging went to stupid prices and broken stuff . Sure glad I got this little forge , will be perfect for me. Sure sounds good ! Can't wait to use her ! I think I saw two or three of the Forged in Fire shows at dads house. They were ok . I ain't had TV in many years .

I have since watched a few seasons. They are entertainment only and not to be taken very seriously. If they included things like the tempering process, it would be hours long and boring to the "home audience".

Got the turree covered welded back together and put on the forge today do hopefully will be using the forge for the first time soon to make some round ball , but after this recent heat wave ! Lordy .... Too hot for fat guys . Maybe closer to the weekend , supposed to drop a bit ....

I hear ya. Just roasted some pork and chicken for my landlady who is having a neighborhood gathering. Crazy, I gave them the meat and am hiding in my room with the air cranked up and sipping Pepsi and rum. You can have that Amish lifestyle today 😁
