I never heard of them before becoming a member here. I'm still not sure what they do , and why I should become a member. I don't need another magazine nor will I travel to Indiana anytime soon. I hope the best for them.

I sent back that this would be my last year. Lady sent be back a note explaining and they were sorry and all things are going up. Perhaps. I had digital. I rarely read the may as It’s a pita. Lots of ads.

As I told her: I don’t go to Indiana and such. Good luck. I don’t see them lasting many more years.

If I didn’t go to Friendship twice a year, I would have kind of a hard time justifying membership. $75 is a little steep for a magazine subscription. But then again, its an extra $2 a month, can’t even get a cup of coffee for that.
It’s about a 550 mile round trip for me to Friendship. Close enough to go a couple times a year but too far for a day or quick weekend trip. If it was closer I’d take advantage of more range activities, but it’s not.

I'm no where near the Rocky Mountains.. might never even go hunting elk.

the magazine for a year. That's OK

I kinda want the multi Tool.

I doubt it. Earlier this month i was in contact with the clubs lady, about our club getting into NMLRA's membership-selling program, , and she said $45. A jump to $90 wouldn't make sense.
Now, an increase in the shoot fees would be a different question. The shoots should pay for themselves, so if attendance falls fixed costs have to be paid by someone.

From what I see there will be ONLY annual and life memberships offered.
I keep it up to maintain our club charter but even listed in the Muzzle Blasts has not lead to any new interest for us.
At one time club insurance was offered thru the NMLRA but that is also gone.
And at 81 I will be gone as well.

The NMLRAS web site https://www.nmlra.org/join

says
"NMLRA Membership
from $50.00" as of tonight, Oct. 1st.

When we first became a charter club 4.5 years ago covid hit us and shut us down for almost a year and we all remember that. Once it all opened again so we could shoot we received I would say 6 or 7 shooters in the first six months. Since then I do not ask how folks heard about us but I would venture 3 or 4 a year. We are averaging over 20 shooters a shoot with 25% growth year over year average every year of our existence. I have had probably 45 different folks shoot with us over the years with a hard core of 18 shooters or so that when they do not show up you ask if anyone heard from em and are they ok?

Seems of late I am getting more queries from widows to help liquidate stuff than potential shooters calling. That is the sad part of the listings.

I have been a member for 20 years. No matter how much you raise the prices it does not fix the problem. MEMBERS, needs members and the NMLRA does not seem to do a good job and getting or retaining members. There are 12 of us that go to Friendship each year. We have discussed the pros and cons of dropping the NMLRA. All go at least once per year. Some both times. All 12 have stated that June 2025 will be there last.
