Sorry bubba, just having a little fun with you. Barrel was a little rusty as you said. Completely happy with it and still trying to find the proper use for it.
Thank you again for the help

I bulged a barrel on my GPR percussion. It had a nice ring around the barrel where the short starter stopped. A couple guys told me it was ok to shot and didn`t affect the accuracy. But, I never felt safe with it and didn`t want to hurt any fellow shooters. I bought a new barrel from Lyman. I remember reading to make sure ,if you use a short starter, to make sure it is long enough to push the Ball past the front sight dovetail. The dovetail is a weak spot.

Short started a TC Black Mtn Magnum about 10 years ago. Ringed the barrel good and proper when I touched it off. Was shooting conicals and, up to that point, the rifle had been grouping terrific. Afterwards, they went everywhere :(

Sent it back to TC acknowledging it was my fault and asking them to replace the barrel at my expense. They sent it back with a new barrel, a sternly worded letter to avoid such practices in the future, and....no bill...warranty repair. I LUV TC!

Recently bought an old Savage model 6 .22 rimfire with a ringed barrel. Darn thing is a tack driver. Didn't know the barrel was ringed until I went to clean it.

I've been able to get away with short starting PRBs. Have done it a couple of times. But not conicals.
