Well here she is....

Managed to get her out the door for $130


Id like to slap whoever put that Tasco scope on there.

Bout to strip her down and see the damage. Heres pics for now.

Well managed to get 1 base off. Put the screws back in the holes. Those 2 holes arent drilled all the way through. Will jbweld them in and cut and file flush like they never existed.

The base we have issues. My allen wrench broke in the bolt so they will be fun getting out. And the other bolt ( rusted one) is stripped.

If all else fails Ill chop that scope base off with dremel or grinder with cutoff wheel carefully. Then cut the heads off the bolt and file flush as well as a last resort.

Any other ideas?

I wouldn't clean a thing. In fact, I would age the hell out it.

Take the rusty parts and make them more rusty. Take the stock and nick it and gouge it and scuff it up. Then slap a really dark stain it.

Leave that beautifully aged dark brass the way it is.

Make it look 200 years old or two Nancy Pelosis.

First, congratulations, you did good!! Give the remaining bolts a good soaking of penetrant and let'em sit overnight. The longer the better. From what I can see the bore looks very nice, a perfect cleanup project.

Spray some good penetrating oil, like BP Blaster on those screws and let em soak for a day.

I like finding rifles like you did . Clean them up and hunt with them . If you get a scratch on them its not a such a big deal as a slick as new rifle would be. Enjoy that TC. . FBC

Honestly thats where I am at this point. I own no closet queens or range only guns. What I shoot at the club matches are ones I am willing to take out to the woods.

If you have access to left hand drill bits try removing the screws with them, sometimes they grab enough the screw or bolt will come right out. If not, use a drill bit about the same size as the allen screw head, drill the heads off. If your lucky there will be enough threads left to place a vice grip on to remove the screw, if not grind the screw off to plug the hole in the barrel.

I've seen worse. I always chuckle when somebody puts Holden Ironsighters on a rifle of any kind. I routinely removed them from any used gun I purchased back at the store and threw them into a five gallon bucket for salvage... which is about all those things are good for. Scope got sold separately.

Kind of like the idea of "aging the hell out of it". Put it in a tank of water, vinegar and cat piss. I have a Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle which had that finish from the factory. It looks a bit odd hanging on the wall with all the shiny blued T/C guns, but it shoots round balls better'n any other gun I have.

Renegades are arguably the best gun T/C ever made. Most will be capable of out-shooting the shooter.

That is rhe one thing I dislike about my Hawken..... I want to get another stock and put german silver hardware on it.. shiny brass just doeant sit right with me.

Yep, a long Malcolm scope for Sharps was certainly better looking...
For 130 bucks it isn't a bad bargain, and it looks good, just have a bit of work on it, and it'll be like a new one...

TOTW sells replacement black iron hardware... or you could just let it tarnish. I have a devil of a time keeping mine polished.

TOTW also sells maple replacement stocks....

It also has fiber optic front and rear sights.

Im not wild about them but will use them.gor the time being until I can get some good irons.
