I moved the balance point back on my off hand rifle using a method similar to what galamb posted. I took a 2 x 4 and drilled some large holes going almost through. I poured lead in the holes making slugs. I placed the slugs into holes in the stock under the butt plate. I managed to move the balance point on a gun with a 15/16 straight barrel, from just behind the entry pipe to about 8 inches in front of the trigger guard. Its not perfect, but I like my guns a little nose heavy.
