For what it's worth, I couldn't agree more...I like being able to lean back in a recliner or a chair on the deck to read...

... or on the porcelain chair in the small, well lit room... :haha:

True I would suspect, if one limited the content and advertsment to true traditional stuff, no modern sights, or bullets there would be few left to read it, such a publication would be great for what few traditionalist are left but there would not be the numbers to support such a venture,....

That's too bad. I've already started pricing the options.

Maybe not "extreme traditional", but perhaps better than what's available?

Count me in if you do, Claude! I let my NMLRA membership lapse, just don't seem motivated to re-up when 50% of the photos and articles are inline stuff. My opinion (and i know there are 1000s of 'em  ) would be a "traditional-oriented" magazine with, yes, some PC articles, but also lots of "general traditional ML stuff". Kind of a magazine version of The Forum

Dropping NMLRA Membership is speaking with Dollar & CENTS. :rotf:

I would be up for a subscription to a quality traditional influenced BP mag.

Count Me In :hatsoff:

I tend to agree with that. Just a bit more financial risk out the outset, or at least effort in getting support from advertisers to offset the production costs.

Either way, the offer of an article stands if the project gets underway.

You got that right!

The throne!

I keep a whole container of mags right next to it! The only magazine I currently subscribe to is Backwoods, and of course an NRA political mag.

I would not mind adding to the stable with this type of publication.

I can remember however a few years back, there was a disaster in regards to the publication from Michigan!

Mule Brain,
I subscribe to 'Muzzleloader',
'Fur,Fish & Game','American Rifleman',from the
NRA and the 'Ohio Outdoor News'.If the NMLRA
sent me 'Muzzleblast' for nothing,I would still
throw it in the trash. In my mind they have been bought and sold us out.
They are apparently not concerned,as I have
sent them numerous letters and E-Mails and
have yet to receive a reply, both as a member
and one of many dropouts.
They at the present time do not serve my
interest.

I remember that one as well.

I was offered the opportunity to purchase that publication just before it disappeared, but chose not to.

Winston Rowland, Jim Fulmer, and Mike Yazel the last (3) NMLRA Presidents, have been promising the World at the WNS Shoot to Member for over 8 years. I see only broken promises.

The Titanic is sinking, and now they are trying to rearranging the DECK CHAIRS?????

The one's who are tired of it are no longer reading it or posting to it. Obviously you are still interested. :hmm:

Interested only to complain. No other posts to this topic. :haha:

Sometimes I wonder if we all get the same magazine. :hmm:
The issue I received said that most responding members would like to see more traditional hands-on/how-to articles, most members like most of the content, almost half of the responders dislike inlines while the rest either are interested or willing to tolerate them, we need more women/youth members...
Seems to me that they are trying to do what they can, to learn what they need to do, to please everybody. If that ticks you off, I don't blame you for dropping out. :v
Maybe you should go back and re-read the last paragraph in the Prez. message. The one where he says the door is still open and then asks for articles, ideas, etc. :hatsoff:

Nawww,

It is far easier to take and hold a negative attitude towards something instead of the more difficult task of changing things.

I'm always dumbfounded by some of the negative posts about the content of Muzzle Blast. All I can imagine is some of the posters who complain the most haven't seen any of the latest issues of the magazine.

I'm glad to see there are other traditional shooters who know a valuable magazine when they see it.

Being a traditional ML enthusiast but not a member of the NMLRA is like being a gun owner but not a member of the NRA. Where else are you going to go for live shooting events, historical interest and up to date hunting information?

"Live shooting events" = local clubs
"Historical Interest" = any number of forums (not the NMLRA)
"Hunting Information" = forums, DF&G sites, etc.

The NMLRA doesn't even have a forum where the members can get in touch or discuss club business. What kind of national organization is that? Even local clubs have that.

But then I'm not a member any more, so who cares? :rotf:

I re-upped last night. I agree that there are some problems - I think inlines are a disservice to the NMLRA - but I like a lot of the articles and the listing of shoots, even if I can't get to them at present.

Claude, I'd plunk down about $4/ issue for a nice traditional magazine - perhaps $5 for a quarterly if it's good, especially with a lot of photographs of traditional guns - originals or new-made. I'm less interested in hearing reports of shooting matches, unless there was an interesting woods walk. With one or two exceptions, every report is the same: we had x number of shooters, the weather was good (or we had a grand time despite it), and here are the winners and scores. Hmm, come to think of it, a real disaster of a match, colorfully reported, could be fun to read.... :hmm:

"Things started out badly at the Groundhog Gulch Rondevous and Tire Sale yesterday, as someone forgot to bring the jug, and this sad error was not dicovered until nearly 8:30am! Unused to facing the day without fortification, our club president, Sniggers McWeeney, attempted to navigate these treacherous and uncharted waters, but his valiant efforts encountered a setback about 8:50am as he seated himself upon his tomahawk, which unfortunately lodged between two logs blade-up. Despite the immediate medical attention he received from other club members, doctors say that he should recover nicely, although his new nickname of 'Three-Cheeks' will be certain to bring a few smiles at his next Chamber of Commerce meeting. With the leadership hors-de-combat, things quickly went from bad to worse...."
