Yesterday actually the 50 yard zero check on my1862 Sharps Sporting rifle was done. The original sights were removed and a Marble "Bulls Eye" peep rear sight was installed. On the muzzle end a nice Lyman ivory 1/16" bead sight was installed. The original sights may have been "PC" but were useless for these old eyes.
After three shots on the black center of the 50 yard target no hits were seen. The spotting scope showed that the lead splash in the black is hard to see at 50 yards. About an inch left of dead center, but I will take it.
Hahn tube with a 2.8c/c Lee dipper of FFFg, a thin paper wad, and filler to the base of a Moose Mould .54 caliber ring tail bullet secured in the tube with finger nail polish.
So a dozen are loaded and on the bench ready when it warms up a bit.
Held center
actually HIT CENTER!
I am happy
